Barbadillo Nave Trinidad Manzanilla en Rama

This dry Manzanilla en Rama from the D.O. Manzanilla Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a fortified wine produced by the historic Barbadillo winery. It features a golden color, intense aromas of green apple, and a fresh, creamy palate with a characteristic nutty finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Palomino Fino
  • D.O. / Region: D.O. Manzanilla Sanlúcar de Barrameda
  • Winery: Barbadillo
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Biological ageing, average of 4 years in solera

The vineyard

The Palomino Fino grapes come from the vineyards managed by the winery in the Marco de Jerez region. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the Guadalquivir River in Sanlúcar de Barrameda provides a constant marine influence that shapes the profile of this wine.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

This wine undergoes biological ageing under a veil of flor for an average of four years. The solera system is located in the Nave Trinidad cellar, utilizing a selection of casks that impart a distinct character before being bottled "en rama" (unfiltered).

Why buy it

If you are looking for a dry fortified wine with meticulous biological ageing, this bottle is an excellent addition to your cellar. Its saline and fresh profile makes it a perfect match for appetizers and seafood dishes. "Nave Trinidad Manzanilla en Rama, Barbadillo. Spain 🇪🇸. Vinoble 2026. Palomino Fino 'en rama'. I liked its sensory notes, but not the alcohol content. The 15% ABV represents a genetic contradiction of the style itself. In a world where alcohol volume has become a real concern for people, this strength clashes with the natural vocation of a young, direct table aperitif.Pure Sanlúcar terroir, without makeup, but a prisoner of its own typicality.

For dry Sherry lovers a Manzanilla from Sanlucar de Barrameda is a very good match with Paella with chicken, Serrano, red pebber and prawns. Palomino grapes Refreshing, salty sea water, olive oil, green olives, yeast, jelly fish.

Pale gold colour, citrus notes, crunchy honey-dew melon flavour, light texture, refreshing high acidity, dry with a decent crisp finish. I had this with pickled octopus, dill, & small banana peppers in Valencia.

Thanks to @[1|6065155|Wine Aficionado] and @[1|9845107|Alex GGunno] for recommending Barcelona's Bar Cañete. I enjoyed a couple of glasses of this manzanilla en rama with excellent tapas including jamón ibérico, cod cheeks and garlic prawns. I was also impressed by the family-friendly service we received as walk ins to this busy place on a Friday evening. This is mellow for the style, with plenty of character. Bruised apple, olives, sea spray, walnuts and sourdough crust.

In 1519 the Trinidad set sail from Sanlucar and became one of the boats which made the first circumnavigation of the globe with Magellan. 500 years later, the 36-barrel solera in the Trinidad bodega was set up to produce this Manzanilla. Deliberately styled to emphasise the base wine rather than the biological ageing characteristics, it still has the unmistakeable salt tang, but also plenty of (mostly dried) fruit. Bone dry. Salted pretzel, meyer lemon, dried apple, dried apricot, almond, peanut, sea breeze.

Green apple, golden raisins, chamomile. Nutty, mineral finish. Fresh acidity. Has a lightness but quite complex and layered. A very nice aperitif or great paired with some grilled sardines.

I turned to Jerez for the fourth glass @ Folii in Stockholm. Sanlúcar de Barrameda-based Bodegas Barbadillo makes the Manzanilla en rama ’Nave Trinidad’ (15% ABV, Palomino Fina) - a generous Manzanilla at the upper echelons of light-bodied, yet with excellent slatey minerality, freshness from lemon & its zest, iodine-drive, a decently expressive closing. Luminous golden in appearance. Nose w fine-tuned yeast, chalk, sea salt, bright green apples. Intense, young-dry, bitter, salty-spiced, nutty, brisk & brief close!

Wonderfully fresh unfiltered Manzanilla sherry from a 4 year solera. Thanks to its youth, this still has a lot of the softness from glycerin that older biological soleras lack. Nose: medium intensity, with chamomile, saline, minerality, salted almonds, fresh dough, and wet rock. Palate: medium body and pleasantly soft. A little bit oily with medium acid.

Deep aromas of orange, tangerine and lime. Followed by hints of honey and hazelnuts. On palate it’s surprisingly light, but with super long finish. Great introduction to sherry.
