Clean and expressive Chardonnay. Ripe pear, yellow apple, citrus, white flowers and a light creamy note, with a subtle mineral (minerals) edge. Medium-bodied, fresh and well balanced, with good texture and a smooth, persistent finish. Bodega Otazu, from 1840, going back for centuries and holding its own D.O.P. Pago de Otazu. The Chardonnay is one of their signature varietals. Pleasant and polished, with enough freshness to keep it lively.

Nice light golden yellow coloured Chardonnay with oak aromas & bitter wood-like flavours, high acidity, medium texture & very dry with a very strong alcohol finish despite its 13.5% alcohol. I wasn’t a huge fan but my guests seemed to like it more than I did. I had this with grilled heavily seasoned salmon slow cooked on the grill.

Business lunch last week in Quebec City. In a rare turn of events, nobody wanted to drink at lunch (out of 7 people). Having snow crab risotto myself, I went for a glass of this Spanish Chardonnay. This was Chablis like, with flavours of lemon, pear, apple and slight pineapple. Not creamy_at_all, with a nice minerality and M+ acidity.
