My first Desjourneys, and, tasted blind, it was very much up there with the absolute 🔝 Chardonnay from Burgundy! It’s a “Cuvée ronde”, a blend of terroirs to make the best possible wine. 11m in oak, about the same in tanks. 4926 btl. Flint and toasted sesame, ripe apricot and crunchy apple, pear and grape accents, hazelnut, butter, and praline. Deep and layered, but feels aerial, crisp, with much drive, to a long, mineral finish. Top class. Especially for this hot vintage. 4.5+ 13% abv, wax-sealed cork.

Burgundy 🥂 Masterclass Series 1️⃣ In this session we featured some Macon stars. More oak presence. Pronounced nose and actually fairly Margaret-Riverish profile. Riper tropical fruit profile. I inserted Jules Desjourneys instead of Espirit Leflaive as this is a producer that I wanted to check out. A great vintage 2017. It did very well in first 1.5hrs. As the oaky element blew off later on, it settled into a pretty good spot to drink.
