#Primum Familiae Vini walk around tasting in Montreal. Familia Torres brought five wines for the tasting. After the Albariño, it was time to taste a Chardonnay. This performed fairly typically for the grape, with lemon, red apple, peach, butter and oak. Fairly round in the mouth, with M+ acidity.

Easily the best Spanish Chardonnay I had until now. Luckily because also the most expensive. The key is the judicious maturation. Just 4 months in oak and 12 months in inox. Oily and creamy nose with white peach, apricot, yellow apple, vanilla and some anise followed by an oily palate with pure, pronounced acidity, juicy peach, apricot, yellow lemon and very long, intense finish with some vanilla and green banana.

The first references to the Torres family as winegrowers date back to 1559, but it wasn’t until 1870 that the brothers Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell founded the winery in Vilafranca del Penedès, with its focus on exportation.
