Maybe because it was the only Sauternes in the tasting, but I liked it much more than I did 2 years ago in NYC. I even tasted it from both 375 and 750ml bottles, just to be sure! 🤣 Light honey gold. Aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, honeydew melon, peach confit, candied pineapple. M+ bodied, lusciously sweet, fresh bright acidity, 14% alcohol.

Impressive converntration, apparently the 2016 vintage in Sauternes wasn’t particularly strong, and Yquem yields were much higher than usual. And yet, this is a superb wine! The color is still light but and the nose is classic with notes of caramel, marmalade, mango, pineapple.. the body feels super precise with good acidity and a very very long finish. (Poured from a 750ml bottle and tasted in 2026)

Deep golden brilliant colour. So many super ripe yellow fruits on the nose. Peach, apricot, yellow apple, honey melon, honeysuckle, and jasmine blossom. So much fruit, complexity, dimension, yet super round and fantastic acidity on the palate. Super long finish. Outstanding dessert wine. I choose to pair this one with Foie Gras or cheese.

I don’t come across a Yquem often, and I love it every time. We drank this one following the Suduiraut. I was curious as to how it would compare, being 1 year younger. It certainly showed more freshness and acid lift. Lighter on the palate. More ethereal. Leaning more towards the apricot and citrus, less ginger and honey. It really feels like it could age forever. It’s so delicious in its youth that I don’t know how anyone can hold them for any length of time!
