Das Weinjahr 2012 in der Region Porto war durch geringe Niederschläge und einen kalten Winter geprägt. Diese Bedingungen führten zu einem gleichmäßigen Wachstum der Reben, während eine kühlere Reifeperiode eine harmonische Säure in den Trauben bewahrte.

Clear medium tawny with a large core and a small light brown edge. Clean medium aroma and controlled oxidation. No barrel. Aroma of dark fruit, raisin, fig and sweet spices. Sweet with medium acidity, low tannins, medium+ body and complexity. In mouth, dried fruit, plum, cherry and sweet spices. Medium+ length. Very good with good length and concentration.

Awesome port! On the menu it said 2003, but receipt said 2009. Who knows! Notes of molasses, caramel, vanilla, raisin, and toffee. Really smooth and delicious!

Two Colheita’s from Niepoort on the program with 10 years between them. The 2013 comes with a slightly herbal, earthy nose of cedar, mixed pepper, caramel, red apple, dried prune and fig. The palate is fruity with balanced restrained acidity & sweetness, molten tannins, caramel, apple, plum and fig.

Tasting Group Tuesday - Port, 5 of 5. My first Colheita Port. Nice balance and structure. Not as complex. 20% alcohol. Medium ruby color. Medium+ intensity developed aromas of walnut, raisin, baking spices, toffee. Medium dry with full body and medium+ acidity. Medium+ intensity flavors of walnut, raisin, toffee, baking spices, dried cherry. Long length finish.

Last wine with a friend visiting us from Sydney, where we met years ago 🇦🇺🙃🥳 Port for a change with cheese instead of dessert 👍 Intense, spicy nose of cherry compote, prune, blackberry, liquorice, tobacco, cinnamon, black pepper, chocolate, raisin and nuts. Spirity but adding to the heady profile rather than disturbing. Sweet, rich and full, supported by ripe and smooth tannins. Super interesting profile, Ruby-Tawny in style, complete and delicious. 👌 4.3 20% abv. 375ml.
