Bierzo / Mencia is rather rare encounter for me, and this was really pleasant one! Up to 80 yo vines, wild ferment in amphorae, then 8 months in French oak. Dense, spicy, with beautiful lively fruity acidity. Great structure supported by really present but ripe tannins. Full bodied but elegant, with lots of character. Will profit from more time, 10 yr potential. Red fruit, dark fruit, cloves and cinnamon, ginger, orange in chocolate, cranberry, plum, hint of brett / barnyard and fine oak. Great PQR (<30€)!

The absolute perfect example of how brett can do good things for a wine. Perfectly dosed taste and smell of ‘countryside’. Asian grocery’s store, white pepper, bacon and eggs. Good intensity on the nose. Blackberries and rosemary. Taste of mushroom bouillon, blue cheese, blueberries and raspberries. Sort of rustic and very much its own. He me in Northern Rhone. So happy to get to try this wine!
