Sean’s CNY dinner at Imperial Canto Great World Crazy amt of minerals on the palate of crushed rocks that reminded me of the Frey Charlemagne, to the point it borders on bitter citrus pith. Quite rich and honey -ed interestingly, but as the group commented, all structure/body but weirdly lacking in fruit. Wrongly guessed high end NZ due to it being SF who brought it. Lots of power here and still a bit unintegrated, good potential but idk if the fruit will show itself.

Lovely elegant Chardonnay! SKT's TB. Starter white to kick off Bordeaux 2011 session! Golden yellow hue, subtle but refined buttery, lightly oaked notes, fresh apple, apricot in a gentle lemon-lime infusion, medium creamy mouthfeel, light hints of white flowers and vanilla. Understated but charming. Thought a good OW Burg, Mersault or Chassagne-Montrachet. Shared 1er Cru Bordeaux 2011 tasting lunch at SKT's,18.01.26

To go with my chicken tonight and salmon tomorrow, I decided to open a big white Burgundy. I really wish I could like this better. A rich gold colour, it is very finicky with the serving temp. Too warm (1st glass) and it is flabby. Too cold (2nd glass) and the flavours are muted. Finally got it right with my 3rd glass. Flavours and aromas of lemon, apple, peach, flint and hints of butterscotch. M+ acidity and long finish. Lacking just a bit in complexity.
