Great wine. Cranberries, juniper berries, licorice, orange blossom, bit lactic... Sturdy pinot noirish. No astringent tannins. Needs air to open in the glass. Best a bit cooled, otherwise too alcoholic (15.5%). Curious to follow its evolution in the bottle.

Intriguing medium to full bodied yet delicate red wine made of grapes sourced from 120 year old Grenache vines near Priorat. Aromas of pink roses, l’orange sauce, red cherries, kirsch, cool mint and some spicy oak and old licorice notes. High acidity, very soft medium tannins and high alcohol (16%). Wonderful balance and intensity, with a very long, steady finish. However, at circa €100,— per bottle I believe it is overpriced. We bought it online, drank it at home.

Spectacular it is this 100% Garnatxa from Montsant 🙌 over 100 year old vines aged 14 months in oak. Super smooth, balanced and elegant. Red fruit, minerals, liquorice, medium body, soft tannins and a never ending tast. Excellent 👍🍷🍷 A wine for special occasions!

Hugely rewarding and interesting. Still on the young side - and quite hot. Decanting helps and is advised at this point. If the alcohol settles, this will be 4,6+ H black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, garrigue, celery, tobacco, licorice, vanilla and pine. Very complex. H acid, M+ tannins, H alcohol (15,5%), M+ body and long finish. Very much and very good!

RP98. I couldn't believe its high alcohol percentage of 16%. 30 minute airation could be enough to feel espectacle experience like its name. From the open, soft blackberry, vanilla nose was so explosive. I loved it. Its first touch was silky and classic. Unexpectedly, beautiful complexity and proper tannin with middle high acidity. Lovely, long finish with comfort was just my type. It touched my mind deeply with fresh noses, good oak touch, ripe grapes from warm weather. It was enoughly drinkable one without food.

Dionysos blind tasting #8. Aroma's of ink, bell pepper, jerbs, ripe fruit combined with a bitter touch but also a sharp acid touch of citrus, slowly more and more dominating. This disturbing touch really influenced the taste, so sorry, not my cup of wine.

Expect the unexpected by @[1|3424099|Tom De Vos] and he looks disappointed. Well yes, this is in fact disappointing for a wine rated 98-100 by various critics 🤔! Difficult nose here. Flowery, roasted red bell whiffs with tons of herbs, ink, medicinal notes, some ripe red fruit, cassis, coffee spot, patchouli thing… Bright acids on the palate with sun ripened black fruit & some peal bitters with coffee spot ending long with too much bitter/sweetness & alcohol warmth. Looking for balance here. Good glass but...

This 2017 Espectacle del Montsant could not live up my high expectations. (Considering the price) It has a sweaty, medicinal and spicy nose with pine and mashed strawberries. Ripe and round on the palate with a bitter-sweet herbal core followed by a ripe, coffee-tinged finish. Not bad, but this 2017 lacks balance imo and still goes in all directions. It feels too edgy. Further ageing will (probably) do this wine good. But I’m not convinced at the moment. Nor of the potential. Disappointed.

Espectacle has made it again! Garnatxa made cream. A great and careful interpretation of a slow, silky Garnatxa. From hundred year-old vineyards, it evidences pure and honest wine making in Montsant. Aromas of strawberries, with reminders of almost citric aromas. Red orange. Cassis. Flours. Touch of vanilla. Cream. Strawberry tiramisú. Wood. Mouth is low and fluid in volume but full in flavour. Long. Tanins evaporated mixed with the red berries fruits. Velvety. Personality. Equilibrium. Refined. Elegant.
