Medium lemon color. Pronounced aroma intensity, green apple, lemon, lemon peel, grapefruit, early-picked peach, white flowers. Dry, high acidity, medium(-) alcohol, medium body. Green apple, lemon, lemon zest early-picked peach, floral and mineral notes; long and vibrant finish. Very good Q, clean and elegant style, very nice.

This is an old world style Chardonnay in the body of a new world wine. From 40 to 45 year-old ungrafted vines. Light gold colour with green flecks. Nose: immediate notes of oak tinged with butterscotch, lanolin and vanilla just behind those notes are crisp, green apple, pineapple, pear, lemon curd, and baking spices. Palate: Crisp and sharp with nice weight from the oak. Laser focused acidity. All in balance. Crisp apple, lemon rind, slight vanilla note, loads of minerality and a savoury long finish. Superb!

It shouldn’t come as a surprise as this is from Chacra, but I am still in awe. This was by far the best South American white I’ve ever had. The 2024 Mainque is pale gold, very little new oak here, grapes were picked early and no malo. It’s fresh, but it’s already fantastic. On the nose pear, lemon, and pebble stone. High acidity, the minerality shines through like Champagne, it has hints of cream with an insane lime and flint finish.
