Deep purple core with pinkish hue, solid and clear. Thick and colored tears, Nose of black fruit, spices and oak influence. Smoke and a touch of leather. Taste of black cherry, prune, plum and the distinctive Syrah’s cassis. Mix of new and old french barriques with tobacco, vanilla, clove and a touch of smoke. Long finish of pepper and pencil shavings. Full bodied with velvet tannins. More bold expression of the Syrah. The stony soil preserves heat during the hot nights, which leads to well preserved acidity.

In anticipation of my first trip with Jumilla giant Casa Castillo’s ’Pie Franco’, I had the Finca’s ’Valtosca’ (v21, 14.5% ABV) - a fine rendition of south-eastern Spain monovarietal Syrah, hefty concentration, warming, fruit-driven & spiced! Dark cherry red, close to inky, purple rims. Full-blown nose offering massively concentrated mix of ripe black & blue fruit - plums, cassis, blueberries, black & white pepper, dried herbs, just a whiff of oak. Rich, drying tannic structure yet juicy, fruity, long & pure close!

Valtosca Tasting Xpertvinum The second red Jumille was a pure and 100% Syrah, this wine pleased me right now, I tasted another vintage before and then also it was quite good! Now the same, still young bit with great potential for the price around 22€ Dark ruby red coloured wine, the nose starts great with ripe black fruits & spices, the palate with blackberry, blueberry, cherry, nice body, good tannins, wood, nice acidity and ending with a lovely finish. Rate 3,9⭐️
