2016 Vintage. Golden lemon. On nose, strong mineral when just pulling out cork. After an hour or two, yellow fruits and blossoms, milky. On palate, M body, well balanced, round, concentrated, with yellow fruit tastes. M+ length. Very good.

Amazingly we had two Benoit Ente, both in the same blind flight! Theme was chassagne vs Puligny vs meursault and what an fantastic theme! Incredibly hard blind, but lovely wines! Benoit makes some fantastic raw Chardonnay, and this was my first try of this particular bottle. Fantastic tension and focus, super elegant and persistent nose. Classic yet unique

Apart from sharing the same last name, the Ente brothers share none of the same characteristics in my opinion. Slightly reductive and not incredibly open knit. Benoit's 2013 open up with almond and white truffle butter, with ocean breeze and oyster shell, after more air it becomes more and more citric and apple dominated. The intensity is insane and the acidity is high enough to cause intestinal bleeding. Still way too young, but the potential for a truly outstanding wine is there.

Benoit Ente immediately showed immense reduction and purity. I always find B Ente wines slightly higher in octane than A Ente, sesame oil and crystalline white fruits. In contrast, the Arnaud Ente are more exquisite, albeit rather subtilely. In fairness, Arnaud’s sweetspot has always been in Meursault, and Puligny has never been the Domaine’s strong suit. A reminder that producer choice doesn’t always supersede other factors like terroir! (92/100)
