Ein trockener Rotwein aus der D.O. Ca. Rioja, der vom Weingut Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia ausschließlich aus der Rebsorte Tempranillo erzeugt wird. Deep, ripe fruit and tight without making massive and heavy wine. Is recognizable as the region despite the "robustness" brings a velvety tannins and a unique minerality. Pure and clean nose where anything and everything is sticking.

Bought this 🍷 8 yrs ago in Barcelona. Tonight was the night ( sad 😢 day with sudden death of a work colleague). 📰 like this always remind to drain my cellar of the goodies. Rothschild and Vega Sicilia duo (you may have heard of them 😛). It’s big for Rioja. 14.5%. Tertiary notes still just emerging like leather. No dill BlackBerry , dark plum. Still a good shine of oak with cocoa and spices. Age 15 and with its acidity and richness. Likely could have went on. Some 🏆 need a look. Life is short.

Trappischt

Lovely aged Tempranillo from 37 years old vines from vineyards at 500m altitude with limestone soil and sandy clay. Fermented in wooden tanks and aged for 16-18 months in new French oak barrels and in 4000l foudres. Very dark ruby red colour with violet reflexes and thick tears. Juicy dark cherries, tones of blackberries, coconut, liquorice and spices, hints of dried coffee beans and fresh leather, well integrated tannins, round acidity, some dark chocolate in the endless long velvety finish.

Classic Rioja profile. Intense nose of Forrest floor, spices, blackberries, smoky with hints of leather and oak. Dense and austere on the palate. Floral and vanilla notes on a long lasting finish.

Mystere Rioja 4 of 8 Part of Vega Sicilia stable. Famous since maiden 2009. French oak. Up to 90h and 74k bottles as of 2018 release Ribera influence obvious, not just from Sicilia association, but also in the buffed, extracted, forthright style. Black fruit w a glazed cherry maceration I don’t associate w Rioja. Vanilla latte. Faint meaty but can’t get through the ripeness. I like many modern Rioja’s. I can’t get on with this. Too much extraction. Could get better, but I won’t be buying any to find out.

Farah Julia

An amazing ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose you can taste hints of ripe red fruit accompanied by balsamic, chocolate and oak notes. Fruity and spicy on the palate. What an excellent aging on this one !
