From last week. Nice 85/15 Syrah/Merlot blend from Chile. HSS! 🍷 Named after Tara, Chile’s largest salt lake. 100% élevage in untoasted foudres. Black cherry, blueberry, olive, black pepper, and distinctive saline mineral on the nose. Medium to full-bodied with firm fine tannins and vivid freshness. The palate has a persistent chalky mineral tension. Finish is long and saline. Described as « Northern Rhône in style, chalky mid-palate with mouth-watering freshness »… I agree! 👍🏻

There’s a splash of Merlot in the Syrah-based wine…though I had to go to Ventisquero’s website to find that out. Whilst there I read that there is next to no vintage variation in this part of northern Chile meaning that, as per every other year, the current vintage should have been harvested between Sunday and tomorrow!
