Deep garnet. 👃🏻 oak, vanilla, black fruit (blackberry, blackcurrants) leather, tobacco, sage. Oak influence is pretty strong, but decanting longer helps a lot, especially on day 2 and 3. Full bodied palate, with big concentration and oak integrating nicely with time, highlighting nice med acidity and intense minerality with leather undertones. Minerals, dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate, graphite, iron, dried herbs. Tannins and oak need to soften more, but it will be a bomb when gains tertiary complexity.

100% Tempranillo, 35–80-year-old vines (according to Tim Atkin), 18 months in new French barriques, 14.5% ABV A very good wine overall. The tannins remain slightly sharp even after a long time in the glass, and the balance leans just a little toward acidity. Still, for a wine around €100, this is a very solid result.

In love with Rioja but never succeeded to try Amancio before. Particularly at such a top peak. Truly impressive meet-up! Varietal Tempranillo from densely-planted, low-yielding single vineyard in Rioja Alta aged for 2y in new FRo. Opaque ruby, abv.14,5%. Dense, developing vortex on N: rubber, shoe wax, ethereal, leafy, spicy notes, remnants of dark fruit in deep background. P: full bodied, dry & harmoniously balanced. Med.intense acidity, sandy tannins. Coffee, cocoa & chocolate driven exit. Long aftertaste. ⬇️⬇️

Youthful but already showing great promise. This single-vineyard Tempranillo from Sierra Cantabria had an intense core of ripe blackberries, violets, and a touch of sweet spice. Modern rioja that is only in its infancy. Was a shame to drink so young but it definitely shows clear hints of what is to come. Oak, tobacco, and leather on the nose. Similar flavors with notes of red and black fruits, with medium tannins and high acids. Would hold for 8 to 10 years minimum or decant for several hours.

The sad part about drinking such a bottle in a restaurant is that it does not get enough time to aerate... The last sips were delicious: powerful licorice and vanilla in the nose. Herby as well. The palate is blueberry all the way. Complex spices like cinnamon thrown in. Tannins very very present still. Best to cellar another 2 years. #Bilbao

Had this 2013 @steak 48 in Del Mar. To be honest I’m not a Rioja lover because of the high acidity they present but this wine is more balanced than others I’ved had. On the nose and mouth you get red fruits and a hint of leather with subtle tannins and a medium decent finish.

Big, bold, beautiful Tempranillo from Sierra Cantabria. Medium acidity, velvety tannins which was given from aging in French oak for 24 months. Flavours of black fruit, cherry, plum, blackberry. Nice touch of vanilla, oak, leather, tobacco and spicy cinnamon. Long aftertaste. Has a very good potential for ageing.
