Bright red fruit and a green leafy note, this was giving off Loire cab vibes. A good example of a style I’m not wild about. Still, the company and the setting more than made up for it. 4.0. Clearly not ready for drinking at this stage and/or a big shift as compared to other Gimli Ultreia series wines. Dark ruby edges, dark non-transparent core in appearance. Nose deeply concentrated - dark fruits (blackberries), licorice, herbs. Fruit and tannic-driven palate, good acidity, tannic-dry finish. Lacks a bit of elegance/come together-feeling at this point in time, interesting revisit in a couple of years.

Alluring aromas of candied red berries, violet pastille, orange peel, toasted anise seed, licorice, scorched earth, and exotic Sichuan pepper. A midbodied red with a succulent sappy texture, juicy warm red berries with a highly tensioned balsamic midpalate with medium + acidity, saline minerals with charred citrus peel intermix with light torrefact notes that culminate in a long spicy finish with slight peppery herbaceous notes, and elegant gritty tannins.

A light alcohol (<12%), but high in tannins red. Well made, light but complex. Have with chicken or tapas: it needs food, very grippy. Needs decant Nose: crushed violet and other red and pink meadow flowers. There is also a green vegetal presence. Faint dark chocolate and dark cherry. Bit of damp earth / barnyard too Finish: tart and dried dark cherry and black cassis. The dried violets are there with a dry hard packed clay finish. Can’t go wrong with Raul Perez

I love Mencía and if you want to try a 100% organic, biodynamic wine with no wood aging, then this is one of the best out there. Floral and fruity as can be reflecting grape & terroir at its best. A little brett and almost unnoticeable off flavors and aromas typical of organic wines that are quickly replaced by the vivacious, alive and expressive character of the wine. Not for the more classically oriented wine lover but yet a must for those in search of different experiences.

Sour cherry and floral notes. Nice minerality. Excellent on its own and would also pair nicely with a variety of foods. Great summer red as well.
