I’m holding on to my 2023 bottle but stumbled upon the 20024 at Biazteri, a restaurant in Laguardia Rioja and also at Lulu in Logroño and just hat to try it. Tempranillo blended with Garnacha 50/50. No new oak Color of black cherry, clear. 👃🏻 smoked cherry , violet, black fruit vanilla leather chocolate, roasting herbs. 👅elegant palate, grand cru level But very very young and I wish they waited a little longer with offering this one. blackberry blackcurrant cherry leather licorice minerals white pepper. Oxer's flagship in red! Grenache from Rioja Alta and Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa. About half-half. No new oak, released as soon as made and usually sold out at the same time! Deep, intense and elegant, with violet, red cherry, strawberry and mineral smoke. Silty tannins and bright acid, long, lean and juicy, with white truffle and rosemary, and a million others things. There is such a complexity that you'd like to spend a whole evening with a bottle. Very contemporary. Brilliant. Can go far! 95++

Dad’s birthday. Bottle breathed for 10 hours + decanted for 1hr and only showed itself towards the end. Good tension and textural mouthfeel. Layered with nice black fruit, savoury notes and overall a mineral backbone. Excellent with steak. Definitely not ready but with great cellaring potential. Can understand why it’s the new wave of Riojas. 48% Tempranillo, 48% Garnacha

Wow! Another winner for tonight!🤩🍷🥩👍🏻 Matched well with the 50 oz Porterhouse steak! Decanted for 3 hours. Aromas and flavors of blackberries, raspberries, herbs, sandalwood, cigarbox, dusty soil, some licorice and and red apples. This is an elegant and balanced Rioja. Still very youthful so I will drink my other bottle in 4-6 years. The Porterhouse alla Fiorentina matched well.👌🏻

We brought 2 different expressions of Rioja to dinner yesterday. 1 was a legendary Rioja and 1 is likely a future legend. This is the future, Oxer. The Kalamity Tinto is known as one of the best wines he thinks of his range. Admittedly this was super young. Bottle breathe 1.5hrs, further 2hr decant at the restaurant before serving. Very aromatic on the nose, blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, hint of violet. Super soft tannins that are superbly managed. Nobody thought this was Rioja. This is indeed modern Rioja!

So, this wine is highly rated, and I was thrilled to try it. After all, it has all the right ingredients - passionate producer, 100 year old vines, roughly split 50/50 btwn tempranillo, and garnacha with small edition of other grapes. Vinified separately and then aged 12 months in oak. The wine is juicy, dominated by violets with a hint of herbs and light spice. Yet, for the price I paid (over 100 euros), I was disappointed- it defo has potential, but too immature for now. Better luck with older vintages?

Ridiculous wine. Beauiful powerful but silky tanning. Very savoury, oak actually takes a back seat to the sage, mushroom, forest floor. Blackberry and cranberry the main fruits.
