2026 June blind tasting with W9🇱🇹 buddies. Topic - FFA (Free for All), since only a few of us were available on this hot Friday. Wine #5 My contribution. Garnacha symphony from Comando G. It’s not the first time I’ve tasted this wine and it evolves beautifully. Fabulous work of the winemaker. Highly fragrant and pleasantly fresh aromas of raspberries, strawberries, black cherries, bilberries, flowers, fresh roses. Med body, fine med(+) lively acidity, precise polished tannins, pronounced refreshing juicy palate.

96+/100. Another absolutely stunning bottle of this lean mean grenache from the CG boys! So elegant and refined. All the crunchy minerals, florals, and light red fruits you could want. I think my next bottle will be an even higher score as there is evidence of evolution since the last bottle I tried. Imperceptible chalky tannins. Love it.

WSET3 alumni catch-up. Served blind by Alex. Theme: Very Good QPR. M(-) Ruby. Pronounced aromas of perky cherry and raspberry. Dry. Lighter body. High acidity. Medium tannins. Very tart palate. Cherry, cherry, cherry. My guess was Old World, but initial guess was French Gamay, and second guess was Spanish Grenache, 13.5% abv and 2022. Verdict: Comando G, Spanish Grenache, 2021. 14% abv. This 23er has a lovely nose of perfumed minerals, floral cherry, floral blueberry, violets, menthol, lavender, fresh thin liquorice & a hint of tangerine pith. Mid(+) body feel, fresh mineral acidity with a softly citric hint, ripe mineral mid tannins. Palate as above with the sublime melange of smooth blueberry-violets-lavender-minerals-salt-dried herbs. First time in over a year that I’ve opened one of my Rozas stash. Good news: the 2021 vintage only continues to get better! The pleasure of introducing newbies to the delights of Comando G never gets boring. The gang loved this wine, describing it as lighter than what they had expected from Grenache/ Garnacha, but none the worse for it. This is all about red fruit purity and intensity. Crushed raspberries and red cherries over volcanic rock. Some got florals too. Great BYO to liven up Weds night pizza.

my first comando g. everything about this was great. always heard that it is pinot-esque, it indeed it pinot-esque. it is also suave and sensual. extremely compelling nose - full of wild raspberries, barnyard leather and also very herbal. i loved the layers of flavours on this one. bright, lively, with some wood. medium bodied, absolutely ready to drink now. rather expressive when i had it last night. show stopping wine. will definitely be trying more of their village cuvees and maybe age their prime cuvees!
