Wow. 1982 opened and almost immediately ready to drink. Drank it in Miami with my family. Very smooth smooth tannins and feels more of a Merlot rather than a Cabernet. Silky and full of flavors of oak Name was changed in early 1980’s so I rated both names

The nose, interesting with rubber, leather, tobacco, earthy, blackcurrant, blackberry and plum. The palate is rather dry with blackcurrant, cherry, red fruit and cranberry. Slightly too dry for me.

To celebrate Mom’s birthday at 15/7/25 @H27. We opened the wine at 530pm to bottle decant. It tooks about 3 hours to fully open. The 2021 Carruades de Lafite is too young to drink now but it was pretty good wine, should age for another 5-10 years. On appearance, it was clear and purple in color. Very fruity on the nose but not on the palate at first I tasted it. Once it fully opened up, the wine is more towards black fruits, bouquet, a bit of earthy and capsicum. Paired with red wine beef pie on that night.

JS 94pts. Fresh ruby red colour, medium to full bodied. Intense blueberry notes when just open and turn into capsicum, blackcurrant, plum, perfume & cedar aromas. On palate, delicate in first sip with cassis, strawberry, clove taste. Moderate acidity & medium finish. Complex wine with layer of fruits, spices, floral at different tasting time.. Need to decant for 2.5hrs to soften the tannic. Believe can aged for another 5-10 years to perform better. Perfect to pair with beef pie which integrate to dark chocolate 🍷

From last night's Thursday Cabal, theme of "two related wines". Three of the guys brought to bottles each, with the wines related in some way. All tasted blind. Greg brought two that were related in that they were both 2004 vintage, and both second wines from first growth left bank producers. The Carruades de Lafite from Château Lafite Rothschild was a beauty, my 4th try of this one. Notes of black currants, toasted oak, licorice and blue flowers with nutmeg.

Wow! A late Christmas present 🎁 🍷! Beautiful Pauillac. Nice bouquet of cedar, cacao, something floral. Still opening, but starts with French old world funk, blackberry, cedar, cassis, and mint. Graphite, supple, integrated tannins. Elegant. Long dry harmonious finish. @[1|24115052|Fr. Taylor Leffler] you said it all. What a gift and opportunity to get to try great wines!
