Great friends, a lovely dinner and a beast of a wine from Alvaro Palacios. What more could a wine nerd ask for? With Finca Dofí, it all began for Palacios, helping put Priorat back on the wine map. Mostly Garnacha with a touch of Cariñena, this beauty seduces with strawberries, raspberries, mint, liquorice and eucalyptus. Juicy, complex, silky tannins and gorgeous mineral tension. Oh, so delicious! My friends fell head over heels for Dofí and I love this wine anyway!

Alvaro Palacios 🇪🇸 wine dinner at Spanish restaurant Binomio. Wine 5. Probably my favourite of the line-up. The Finca Dofi is a single vineyard Garnacha dominat blend. The 2021 vintage was a generally cool vintage and even though the technical sheet and all info online states this was 90-95% Garnacha, I’m quite sure I heard Alvaro mentioned that this was for the 1st time, 100% Garnacha. Well regardless, it’s a lovely wine. Great structure and depth, pronounced nose and with very positive evolution in glass.

Excellent wine! Was a pretty good pairing with the duck & fois gras (alas, we could have used a sweet wine to go with the fois gras). It paired exceptionally well the short ribs. Had flavors of blackberry, plum, cherry & a touch of oak.
