Power power to be paired with a cigar. Dark purple red win with hardly any ruby. Strong woody nose with some solvent lots of black fruit cigar smoke and leather. Dry with good acidity and than it starts. Very long complex finish. A glass can last for an hour. Longest finish ever and simply delicious.

WineCup 🍷 🏆 2024 🥉 place match Australia🇦🇺 vs Spain🇪🇸 Correctly called Tempranillo Spain. Well it’s the trusty Alion, brought by Barry. The player that performs consistently well and has a few years of experience(2011 vintage 😂) Years of maturation show a wine that’s more integrated and with complexity of some secondary and hint of tertiary notes mixed in. Every Spanish bottle actually scored very well last night. Just like the soccer team, it seems most are performing! 🤣

A great vintage in RdD. Deep rubi. Very expressive and elegant nose, with aromas of vanilla, licorice, plum, cherry, compote and syrups. Some tertiary elements comming up. Dry, powerful, opulent, elegant and harmonious. Medium plus acidity, high tannins adding tension and structure to the wine. Long persistence in the mouth. Drinking well now with at least 10 years of further ageing.

Wine #5 in RdD event with VV friends. 100% Tempranillo-different again. Ageing: 16 m new FR oak, 15m in bottles. L: opaque ruby, orange rims, oily w tiny rims at abv.14,5%. Vortex complex N: mushroom, ethereal, dried sauna leafs (birch&oak), black tea, earthy, smoky notes. Dried plum tries to raise the hand. P: full bodied, sweet oak tannins, floating, structure loyal acidity, earthy mouthfeel, black tea finale&long, lingering aftertaste. Concidering the complexity&price this is my no.1 of the night. 4,7.

Super nice Alion from the Vega family. Medium ruby leaning to garnet, perfect age. Plum, dried fruits, cherry, blackberry and smoke on the nose. Leather, chocolate and vanilla on the palate with a complexity of forest fruits. The balance of tannins and finish was perfect.
