Vega Sicilia Unico 2012 Magnum

La añada excepcional del Vega Sicilia Unico 2012, proveniente de la reconocida bodega Vega Sicilia, ofrece un excepcional coupage de Tempranillo (95%) y Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Esta obra maestra vinícola es el fruto del compromiso del grupo Tempos Vega Sicilia. Desde que fue adquirida por David Álvarez Díez en 1982, la reputación internacional de esta bodega, fundada en 1864, ha ido en constante ascenso, estableciendo estándares de calidad inigualables en el universo vinícola.

De las extensas 1.000 hectáreas de la Finca Vega Sicilia, 210 se dedican al cultivo de la viña, donde conviven 19 tipos de suelos distribuidos en 64 parcelas con características específicas. La gestión excepcional de estos suelos ha sido crucial, influenciada por el curso del río Duero y el transcurso del tiempo. Un total de 40 hectáreas están reservadas para la producción de Unico, con una edad promedio del viñedo de 36 años y altitudes que oscilan entre 700 y 900 metros sobre el nivel del mar.

La cosecha se realiza manualmente en cajas de 12 kg. El envejecimiento del Vega Sicilia Unico 2012, con un mínimo de 10 años entre la madera y la botella, destaca como uno de los más prolongados a nivel mundial. Se utilizan barricas de 225 litros de roble francés y americano, tanto nuevas como usadas, así como tinos de madera de 22.000 litros. Este proceso extenso y complejo confiere a los vinos una sorprendente variedad de matices, precisión, textura y profundidad a medida que evolucionan.

Excellent wine, very fruity, with blueberry, black cherry, cassis, tobacco, leather. The wine is balanced, good acidity and still good tannins. Great birthday dinner!

Christmas Dinner at Cuisine Cuisine, Mira TST @25/12/24. The first bottle of the night is the Spanish top producer Vega-Sicilia. The 2012 Unico is a beautiful wine; we bottle decant for 2 hrs. Along the drinking session, the wine was keep developed from the tertiary aromas to primary aromas. It was Fresh and Floral, opulent, rich and creamy texture, dark fruits flavour and very balanced notes of oak and spice. This is one of my wish list. And it was the first time to try this wine.

What a privilege it was to drink this. Displaying a deep garnet hue with nuances of red clay pot resulting from aging, it still exudes a delightful freshness, accompanied by aromas of black fruits, herbaceous honey, and lilac. On the palate, discernible flavors of plum, vanilla, licorice, pepper, and thyme unfold. Additionally, as the wine aerates, subtle notes of dried fruits and figs emerge. While currently at its prime, it possesses the potential to be savored for several more years, maintaining its quality.

Dark ruby, legs. Strong baking spice (vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon), nuts (almond, hazelnut), raisin, black cherry, raspberry. Slightly off-dry, mildly tart, strong butter, mushroom, leather. Medium-full body, medium-high acid, slightly alcoholic, integrated prickly tannins, long complex finish. Delicious big red icon! Lots of oak, but balanced.
