Pago de los Capellanes O luar Do Sil Vides de Córgomo 2022

This dry white wine from D.O. Valdeorras is crafted entirely from the Godello grape by the Pago de los Capellanes winery. It reveals a complex aromatic profile of ripe white fruit, dried herbs, and sweet spices, leading to a structured, creamy, and mineral palate.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Godello
  • D.O. / Region: D.O. Valdeorras
  • Winery: Pago de los Capellanes
  • Soil / Altitude: Slate and schist soils at 350 meters altitude
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 8 months on fine lees and at least 18 months in bottle

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the village of Córgomo, on the northern bank of the Sil River. At an altitude of 350 meters, the Atlantic climate and slate and schist soils provide the vines with ideal conditions for vibrant acidity and mineral character.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following pre-fermentation maceration, the wine ferments in a combination of stainless steel, concrete eggs, oak foudres, and acacia barrels. It then ages on its fine lees for eight months with weekly stirring, followed by bottle refinement.

Why buy it

If you are looking for a structured Galician white wine with excellent cellaring potential, this bottle is a sophisticated addition to your collection. Its limited production and meticulous aging process guarantee a high-level gastronomic experience. You can buy Pago de los Capellanes O luar Do Sil Vides de Córgomo 2022 online directly from our boutique.

A little bit too smokey for my taste but still drinking well and enjoyable.

Tasted blind. No theme. A slight golden hue. Apple and pear. Fairly aromatic in style. Savoury finish. M+ Acidity. My guess was New World at first, and when Old World was called I went for French Chenin Blanc. Verdict: Spanish Godello Dang!

Smells like wet bushes, nature, corn salad. Subtile wine, some saltyness. Fresh white grapes

WG&V - Galicia. Although from Valdeorras, the imprint of its Ribeira del Duero parent is unmistakable. Fermented in concrete egg and acacia demi-muids, the élevage shapes the wine decisively. Oak influence dominates the aromatic profile, adding weight and texture but muting varietal transparency. The palate is very full, expansive, almost bombastic, yet comparatively low in acidity. This results in a slightly angular frame and a sense of imbalance. Technically ambitious, stylistically assertive.

The most sophisticated Godello in the range. Barrique, foudre, concrete, inox, 8 months on the lees. Golden colour, the notes of yellow fruits, lemon, toast, cream and smoke. Medium body, fresh, intense and even has some minerality.

We enjoyed this single-variety Godello very much. It’s a very limited edition white wine from renowned winery. Lightly oaky and smoky on the nose, with notes of creamy lees and sweet spices. Rich acidity, racy and pure

Fantastic new wine by Pago the Capellanes at Valdehorras. This is an all-Godello Louar do Sil ensamble of a great deal of different types of vinification and ageing: inox, french oak, foudres and cement eggs. With lots of ageing potential. In aromas, low citrics ans high on aromatic herbs. Pineapple. Fennel. Fresh. Minerality. With hints of ash, slightly empireneumatic In mouth, it has lots of structure. Density rather than unctuosity. Long. Elegant. Where you can feel the potential for ageing.
