The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from the exclusive Pago Capellanía, a six-hectare plot planted in 1945. Situated at an altitude of 485 meters in the highest area of the Finca Ygay, the vineyard features clay-limestone soils that impart character and complexity.

Winemaking

After gentle crushing and brief skin contact, the must ferments in concrete tanks at low temperatures. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, followed by an additional 15 months of refinement in concrete.

A very good impression of the grape. I am learning to love it and will explore more of this. In the nose very ripe apples, pears, marzipan, herbs and a hint of spices like vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate opulent, good acidity and phenolic notes. Very interesting and well worth looking more into. I have enjoyed this tremendously.
