A Vega Sicilia Unico, with 20 years and thoroughly decanted!!!. Maybe once in a Life time experience. This a top Tempranillo (with CS) full of nuances and balance. Very difficult to think something better in Spain or anywhere else. Of course it comes with a huge tag price (and this vintage is not easy to get) but it worth each penny. Its prime window is beggining. Drink or hold.

2004 vintage. The whole experience is great. Brownish ruby red. On the nose it has notes of oak and leather (like high quality new shoes 😂), ripe black fruits, Blueberry and raspberry jam. Very complex and expressive. Had a splash in the glass the moment I opened the bottle and then it was decanted for about 1.5h. It evolves beautifully over time. Super balanced. Fabulous 🍷 which will age for decades. American oak on the nose, although less prominent than with Riojas of comparable quality. Dense, black robe showing no signs of age. Full bodied, thick, and complex on the palate with lots of spices and forest floor flavors. Basically a wine that manages to be bold and supple at the same time. Drink now or cellar forever.

Celebration wine for my Bday. Great condition with plenty of life ahead. Intense garnet, thick legs visible on the glass. Intense aromas of forest fruits, licorice, sweet toasty spice, leather, chocolate. Charming, deep, elegant and mysterious. Right amount of tannins, acidity and alcohol, medium to full bodied. 2004 is an excellent year of Spain. On Wine Spectator, it says drink / keep. Dark chocolate, mellow plum, black fruit,violet. Balanced and super elegant. Med+ acid/tannin/body/flavour. More oak, charcoal, smoke, vanilla. Earthy and Even more dark chocolate on palate. After 1 hour, it's a plum bomb! More acidity, less tannin. Aftertaste starts getting shorter. It can hold another 2-3 years at its peak. Unico is mind blowing, can rival with burg for elegancy.

Blind tasted. Dark colors and ripe fruit, powerful nose and long streaks made me guess warm climate. However I thought the jamminess of the wine was a sign of a strong bodied napa, but lo and behold this was the Unico, the hallmark of Vega Sicilia. I was blown away at the power and strength of the wine and how delicious it tasted with the roast beef dinner. Maravilloso!!!

Unico always derserve a special place in Spain wine history. GREAT bottle thaf shouod have been cellared for another 20 years. 4 Hour decant to ease down on the initial oakiness. Fruit bomb but in dark and deep sense. Never ending finish that keep on in the mouth. Absolutely stunning.

Deep red purple color. Multi layers, powerful. Aroma and tastes of fresh red fruits, plums, chocolate, cherry, black currant, hint of mint. This wine was drinked and tasted twice from two different bottles within one week. Great wine !! One of a kind.
