Tried this at the Perrier-Jouët house in Épernay, which made an already special bottle even better. Beautifully fresh and elegant, with citrus, white flowers, stone fruit and a touch of brioche. Fine bubbles, lovely minerality and a long clean finish. One of those Champagnes you remember as much for the experience as the wine

The bottle is the diva, obviously, but thankfully the wine has the substance to back up the entrance. And what an entrance she makes. Floral, silky and beautifully elegant, with white peach, ripe pear and grapefruit alongside creamy brioche and toasted almond. The bubbles are fine, the texture is luxurious, and there’s a lovely freshness running through it all that keeps everything lifted and dangerously drinkable.

Parisian sunshine, if a little bit hot this time of year, is the perfect partner for a bottle of P-J. Gotta love those flowers on the art deco label. The dosage I’m not sure but it’s a full fat champagne with plenty of bread to appease the pâtissières amongst you.

A celebration Champagne to mark my 2 year journey in Oman! A well aged Champagne where the bubbles have become more refined. More yeast and toast -iness and brioche notes. The apple flavours and much more subdued and it’s a lot more floral and approachable than I expected.
