Sandhi Central Coast Chardonnay 2023

This dry white wine from the AVA Central Coast in California is crafted by the Sandhi winery. It offers aromas of citrus blossoms and fresh fruit, with notes of lime and a subtle hint of toasted oak on a balanced palate.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Chardonnay
  • D.O. / Region: AVA Central Coast (California)
  • Winery: Sandhi
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Stainless steel tanks and neutral French oak barrels

The vineyard

The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the cool-climate zones of California's Central Coast. The maritime influence in this region ensures slow ripening, preserving the natural acidity and fresh fruit character.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Produced with a philosophy of minimal intervention by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman, it is fermented using native yeasts. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and neutral 500-liter French oak barrels to preserve its varietal purity.

🗓: 2023 🍇: Chardonnay 👁: Pale lemon colour 👃: Medium to medium+ intensity for nose. Notes of citrus, lemon, minerals, cream, apple, pear, toast, smoke 👅: Dry, high acidity, full bodied, 12.9% abv, palate has popcorn in addition to nose , medium+ to long length finish Always wanted to try a Sandhi. Good structure and intensity. 4.3 pts for me

Inviting fresh scent of sun-ripe tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), vanilla and coconut, complemented on the creamy, subtly buttery palate by sunny citrus (lemon, orange, lime) and orchard fruit (green apple, pear, peach) chased by a long finish of sweeter spice, nuts and stony, salty minerals. Nicely balanced and a joy to drink.

A delicate, low-intensity Chardonnay from the Central Coast in California. Aromas of citrics, basically lemon. Some other aromatic herbs. In mouth, it is light, agile, limpid and lubrifying.

Outstanding balance and elegance. Ripe, fresh fruit, bright and lifted with a mineral spine. NOT your typical Cali Chard, tastes like a refined fruity Chablis (Premier Cru?).

Green apple, vanilla, pineapple, and peach. Lots of tropical notes on the nose. On the mouth medium intensity, low acidity but a buttery coating that is just perfect. Saline notes, flint and stone. Classic Chardonnay and a very well made one at that.

13% Chardonnay Fermented in both stainless steel and oak. 100% malolactic fermentation. Aged 9 months in mostly neutral French oak. 299 SEK Sandhi wines were founded 2010 by Raj Parr and Sasha Moorman. Sandhi means teamwork. Clear, straw yellow color with green shimmer. Nose is medium plus and showing a lovely complex concerto of stone-fruits, malo, spices and minerals. The wine feels completely dry with a medium plus acidity. Very elegant and the oak is well handled and not owerpowering. Just lovely! 🥰🤗

Great nose with pear, minerals and tropical. Fantastic taste with citrus, minerals and green apple with something that doesnt really follow the nose.

A rather elegant Central Coast Chardonnay from the states. A hotter wine with clear acidity. The nose gives you apricots, saline, biscotti (almond notes) and a faint buttery vibe. Some floral notes emerge together with the acid on the tongue - this wine can easily rest for a couple of years. Positively surprised, I didn’t think this came from the states based on the elegance.

Sandhi - Central Coast (2023). California Chardonnay. There is no doubt whatsoever that this is a Chardonnay :) Subtle oak, butter, citrus, green apple, melon, peach, pear. Very smooth & creamy, gentle & balanced acidity. I think I even like this more than their Sta. Rita Hills Chard. A real food chardonnay due to it’s subtle oak. Dangerously drinkable! 91,5p

Aromas of yellow peach, spice and pie crust. A medium-bodied palate offers dynamic flavors that range from stone fruit, citrus to mineral notes. The texture is based on a lively acidity. Drunk with kofta and jewelled rice
