The vineyard

The grapes originate from vineyards in the O Rosal subzone, grown on predominantly granitic soils with some slate. These geological conditions, combined with the Atlantic influence, impart a distinct minerality and complexity to the native Albariño, Caíño Blanco, and Loureira varieties.

Winemaking

Following a manual harvest and double bunch selection, the grapes undergo cold maceration before pressing. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by six months of aging on fine lees to add volume and a creamy texture.

Elegant, mineral, citrusy and floral, fresh and zesty, slightly creamy, harmonious, medium bodied, with a lingering finish. Made by Quinta Couselo, one of the oldest wineries of the D.O., full of charm and tradition.

Fun to taste the 2023 only a few weeks after tasting the 2024 vintage. I really like this one. Very fresh, mineral and stony with a saline aftertaste. Green berries, quince, some lime and a drop of melon. Lovely acidity, more austere style. A blend of 85% Albariño, 10% Loureira and 5% Caiño Blanco. Aged on its lees for 6 months in stainless steel tank. Better vintage or some aging helped?
