Nin-Ortiz Terra Vermella de Nin Blanco 2020

This dry white wine made from the Parellada Montonega grape comes from the Penedès region, crafted by the Nin-Ortiz winery. It features a unique aromatic profile with notes of green apple, wax, smoky hints, and a touch of hydrocarbon, balanced by a dry and vibrant palate.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Parellada Montonega
  • D.O. / Region: Penedès
  • Winery: Nin-Ortiz
  • Soil / Altitude: Clay-limestone, 550 meters altitude
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 12 months in oak barrels on lees and 24 months in bottle

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from a single hectare of vines over 40 years old located in Sant Miquel, Pla de Manlleu. This vineyard sits at an altitude of 550 meters on clay-limestone soils, cultivated under organic and biodynamic principles.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following whole-cluster pressing and a brief 24-hour skin contact, spontaneous fermentation takes place in 300-liter oak barrels. The wine is aged on its lees for one year in wood, followed by an additional two years of bottle aging before release.

Why buy it

If you are looking for a white wine with distinct character and a unique oxidative profile, this limited-production release will bring great individuality to your cellar. To experience a sincere and profound biodynamic expression, you can buy Nin-Ortiz Terra Vermella de Nin Blanco 2020 online directly from our boutique.

An intriguing and vibrant biennial experimental white wine crafted from ungrafted Emir vines in Nevşehir, Cappadocia (2025, 13% ABV). Pale lemon yellow in color. The nose is remarkably lively and expressive, offering fresh citrus and crisp mineral aromas. On the palate, it delivers a clean, well-balanced structure driven by pleasant, refreshing acidity and a bright, focused finish. A fascinating expression of volcanic terroir

Unique. So exotic and complex. Made to evolve in bottle. Shiny straw color, nice optics. Crazy good nose of tamale, exotic flowers, jackfruit, vanilla, smoke, lychee, sea breeze. Medium body that is also really complex with pears, more smoke, custard, lychee, turmeric, lots of cashew. Always smoky. Sui generis. Could be cloying without adequate acidity but tastes fresh enough. Fascinating.

I am usually not a fan of buttery styles, especially some chardonnays, but this one is quite awesome! It is still refreshing and tastes like vanilla eclair! It also has some tropical fruit in the background butter vanilla peach minerals cream

Nin Ortiz operates also outside the Priorat appellation, in Catalunha. This is interesting as it is a Montenego monocepage. Herbal nose with zesty yellow lemon, white peach and gooseberry followed by a smooth palate with fine acidity, juicy stone fruit, zesty citrus and nice, toasted finish.

Not quite sure I had had the Montanega grape before but it worked well with all the fish dishes at Atelier Noun yesterday. Elegant white fruits and floral notes, lots of minerals, even some flint (?). Well integrated oak and a fairly long finish make for a pleasant experience.

Complex, textured and distinctive white.
Deep gold. The nose shows dried citrus, herbs, smoke and mineral notes. The palate is layered and savoury, with fresh acidity balancing richness and texture. Long, complex finish with real character.

Indigenous Catalan grapes. Very roasted nose - not sure if it’s reduction or the barrel toast. Otherwise the nose is very Burgundian, except for some initial notes of overripeness which disappear. The palate is both ripe and minerally taught - like a ripe white Burgundy. Voluptuous from barrel aging (or fermentation) but also supremely fresh and lively. This wine is both massively fun to drink and seriously nerdy. A stunning 12% ABV! Fabulous. 91/100.

Quick... euh... long stop at @Gino Snoeck 🤪 A fascinating white from the hills of Priorat, radiating tension & quiet power. The nose opens with white peach, bruised apple and chamomile, wrapped in a veil of flinty reduction and salty minerals. Hints of lemon zest, fennel and crushed stone add both depth and precision. On the palate, it’s textured and vibrant, with a fine grip that carries the wine through a long, savory finish. A wine of character and purity — rustic elegance meeting Priorat nerve.

Very special parellada. After last time with the suspension of a bad bottle, this new bottle proves the same. No need to change the tasting notes. Hard to tell which dish would be the perfect pairing. Today for a plate of crostini misti. The price of NOK 555,70 is far off, and drags the stars down.

From a fantastic visit to the winery. 100% Parellada. Really curious. Nose is yellow apple, with some fennel and rubber even. Palate is surprisingly savoury - wheat, cheese. Good acidity, long finish. Would love to try with some more age.

Priorat tasting, flight #1, wine #1. Made from 40 year old single varietal of Parellada Montonega, biodynamic farming, minimal sulfur additions, native yeasts, aged on its lees for 8 months in small used FR oak barrels. Slightly cloudy pale lemon colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of grapefruit, lemon, stone, reductive lemon curd notes, smoky hints. Medium+ body, lively and tense structure with same reductive lemon curd notes mirroring aroma, bruised apples and citrusy hints, mineral with persistent high acidity. 92
