Key facts
- Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
- D.O. / Region: D.O.P. Pago de Otazu
- Winery: Otazu
- Ageing / Cellaring potential: 18 months in oak, >5 years in bottle
The vineyard
The grapes are sourced from the estate vineyards of Otazu, located near Pamplona in Spain's northernmost D.O.P. region. The local climate promotes slow ripening, which helps preserve the natural acidity and freshness of the fruit.
Winemaking
Following a seven-day cold maceration, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation on fine lees in French oak barrels. It is then aged for 18 months in oak and spends over five years maturing in the bottle.
Why buy it
This structured wine offers excellent ageing potential, making it a sophisticated addition to your cellar. It pairs beautifully with roasted red meats and mature cheeses. If you wish to experience this unique expression of Navarra, you can buy Otazu Altar 2018 online directly from our shop.
