This dry red wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero is produced by the Hacienda Monasterio winery under the direction of winemaker Peter Sisseck. It features an aromatic profile of fresh red fruit, mineral and balsamic notes, balanced structure, and firm tannins.

The vineyard

The vineyards are located on a single estate in the Golden Mile, between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero. The vines grow on limestone soils that provide freshness and elegance to the grapes, cultivated under ecological principles.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following a manual harvest and complete destemming, the must undergoes a 30-day maceration. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French Allier oak barrels to develop its complexity.

Really interesting for a Ribera. Best to give it an hour or so to fully open, but delicious complexity for something so young. Juicy black fruit and red fruit. Blackberry and bramble, plum and cranberry. Then letting the fruit fade reveals punchy liquorice, vanilla, burnt wood, burnt fruit and fresh tobacco. Full body, medium+ fine tannins and the 15% isn't as notable as you'd worry it might be. Only complaint would be only a medium finish.

Very nice Ribera, dark red almost purple in color. Black fruit like plum, black cherry and blackberry, chocolate, leather, earthy, oak and minerals. Full bodied, balanced wine, soft tannins and a long aftertaste.

Love Duero, where old vines thrive! This wine is a true representation of the climate Dried plum and dark fruit. Oaky with vanilla and warm cedar and leather. Layers of cloves and black pepper. Very smooth and soft tannins. Long and elegant finish. Very enjoyable If you prefer it velvety and smooth, open it well in advance
