The vineyard

Winemaking

Following a manual harvest, the must undergoes skin maceration for 15 days at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for six months in American oak barrels, followed by an additional six months of bottle refinement before release.

Amazing wine for its price, it really feels way more premium than its range of 5-10 euros, very well balance, slightly spicy, amazing deep Ruby color, it also feels fresh, it's a really good standard wine imo, it doesn't have anything wow, but doesn't have anything bad at All, it's a good wine and you can't go wrong with it, vanilla pepper clove cherry red fruit

Quite similar to the 2021 , I still feel the chocolate and pepper notes.. does anybody distinguish better these two..? This 2024 just seems a little more balanced - bit softer, sweeter and a bit less tannic and less acidic , full body?, pretty good for the price 🫶🏻

Very good red from DO Ribera del Duero, made by the winery Bodegas Protos, in Peñafiel. Single variety of tempranillo grapes, aged 6 months in American oak and 6 months in the bottle.Bright cherry red colour with purple rim, aromas of red and blackberries, spices, toasted notes. Palate is medium-bodied, fruity, well rounded. Priced at 9,90€ at Spanish internet retail.

A really excellent wine, this, with oak and dark fruit - chiefly blackberry - on the nose. On the palate, a very agreeable woody flavour is complemented by more dark fruit, again blackberry to the fore. Decent acidity and a long finish.

And we end the nice with a Protos. Yes, it's a little more commercial with vanilla and oak combined with red fruit like cherry. But even the more 'mainstream' wine of this region is really good. Nice and strong with a medium-complex finish and soft but strong tannins. 3.7/5
