Forjas del Salnés Goliardo a Telleira Albariño 2024

This dry white wine from D.O. Rías Baixas is crafted by the Forjas del Salnés winery using the Albariño grape. It features a golden yellow color with greenish highlights, expressive aromas of white fruit and flowers, and an intense palate with balanced acidity and a lingering finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Albariño
  • D.O. / Region: D.O. Rías Baixas
  • Winery: Forjas del Salnés
  • Soil / Altitude: Sandy with pebbles
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 1 year in French oak barrels

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from 45-year-old vines located in the municipality of Meaño, Pontevedra. The vineyard is planted on sandy soils with abundant pebbles, a terroir that imparts freshness and a distinct mineral character to the wine.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Spontaneous fermentation takes place with native yeasts in used 750-liter French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for approximately one year in the same barrels to enhance its structure and complexity.

Why buy it

If you are looking for a Galician white wine with volume and complexity for your cellar, this is an excellent choice. Its oak aging provides a cellaring potential superior to that of young whites from the region. You can buy Forjas del Salnés Goliardo a Telleira Albariño 2024 online directly from our shop to experience a unique interpretation of the variety.

Just how I like an Albariño. Mouthwatering acidity, saline and light footed. Citrus fruit with subtle aroma of flint.

Nice Albariño but not the best I have tried or close to - but still nice with notes of apple , peach , citrus honey , saline , minerals - dry with high acidity

One of the better Albarino wines I had in ages. Fresh and clean acidity! Ample ripe fruit- apple citrus melon white peach. Well integrated hints of oak barrel spices. A slight salt minerality. Lovely 🥂

Lovely Spanish Albariño. Deep golden color, medium body and good length. Made from grapes grown on higher altitude and is one of the most clean an elegant Rias Baixas I have tasted. Citrus, apples, minerals, lime and salt.

[Albariño Always!] The quality keeps rising in the Forjas del Salnés Albariño flight! More oily nose with more citrus, less stone fruit and fennel for added complexity followed by an oily, intense palate with very pronounced acidity, zesty citrus, stone fruit and salinity in the long finish.

Intense Goliardo a Telleira Albariño. Appearance: Bright pale golden yellow with green hues. Nose: Expressive, with honey, minerals, straw, and delicate white flowers. Palate: Medium-bodied with high acidity, showing a subtle touch of oak. Layers of citrus, minerals, honey, cream, and wax unfold, finished with the signature saline note that defines a true Galician wine. Delicious and characterful.

PWS Deep Dive into Terroir tasting, limited TN. Riper style, warmer location and it shows. Oily texture, riper tropical, apple fruit with good length. Definitely broader albeit decentish acidity.

Very fucking amazing wine... fresh, Pear, Apple and you can feel the sea the salt the seabreeze, it ends with a little buttery "like" (not like oaked burgundy ) aftertaste which lingers for a long long time. So... the wine is super fresh, has a long finish what more can you potentially want 💁🏼‍♂️🇪🇸🔥

Gold Ghost Orange, 2023 Albariño. Vivino could not find this wine. So I’m using this one to at least track the grape. Delish wine from firstleaf. Had with a cheeseboard and it was perfect. Beautiful color and nose. Honey notes and straw. Soft mouthfeel. Wouldn’t want for a meal but perfect for appetizers in the summer.

Rodrigo Méndez the 5th generation. Val do Salnés, the historic and the most coastal subzone. Ungrafted vines some over 100 years old. Ancient methods of skin contact, foot-treading, extended lees contact with no batonnage. Large barrels. Goliardo a Telleira is a wine brother to the famous Sketch. Same plot 60-80 years old vines, without MALO, on the lees in 750L barrel, same undersea treatment for 3 months. Amazing depth with an intense hay and saline character. Fuzzy peach skin. Not your typical Rias Baixas

Had much bigger expectations from this Albarino. Too high on acidity once we open the bottle, which fades away later on, nose is also a light one

Beautiful! This 2018 Goliardo A Telleira crafted by Forjas Del Salnés is a magnificent expression of Albariño, showcasing succulent notes of unripe pineapple, honeydew, white flowers and salted lemon. On the med-bodied palate, this Albariño exhibits a magnificent display of flavors that dance across the tongue. Its supple mineral texture and balanced, vibrant acids lead to a long, saline finish with subtle bitterness. Top!

A vibrant chiseled aromatic profile with pronounced smokey flinty notes, salty sea breeze nuances, iodine, and fresh white flowers with a mixture of lemon and grapefruit, green apples, toasted anise seed, and stone dust. A medium + structured Albariño with a sharp vertical mouth-feel. It's fresh with zesty citrus flavors, stone fruits, quinine, and a highly tensioned electrical mid-palate with pronounced acidity that cuts deep. It lingers with a long salty finish with traces of iodine and stone dust.
