Envínate Táganan Blanco 2024

A dry white wine from D.O.P. Islas Canarias, crafted by the Envínate winery in Tenerife. It features a pronounced mineral character, saline notes, and a deep aromatic profile with hints of white fruit and wet stone.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Malvasía, Listán Blanco, Gual, Marmajuelo, Albillo Criollo
  • D.O. / Region: D.O.P. Islas Canarias (Tenerife)
  • Winery: Envínate
  • Soil / Altitude: Volcanic, steep slopes, 75-300 m
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Aged in oak barrels / Medium cellaring potential

The vineyard

The centenary vines are located in Taganana, on steep volcanic slopes facing the Atlantic Ocean at altitudes between 75 and 300 meters. The vineyards are cultivated manually and traditionally, without the use of chemical products.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, followed by aging in neutral oak barrels of 350 and 600 liters to maintain a balance between fruit and subtle wood influence.

Why buy it

If you are looking for an Atlantic-style wine with great typicity, this is an excellent choice for your cellar. Its limited production makes it highly sought after by natural wine enthusiasts. You can buy Envínate Táganan Blanco 2024 online directly from our shop.

Very saline, stony and high-acid, with lemon/apple, subtle nuttiness and a slightly grippy texture. Finish is long, smoky and almost iodine-like. The style is energetic, somewhat wild, and distinctly Atlantic/volcanic.

Artisan Cellars Monthly Tasting session. Field blend of local Canary Island varieties from the remote coastal village of Taganana in Tenerife. Listan blanco, Albillo Criollo, Marmajuelo, Gual and Malvasia. 50-150yr old ungrafted vines. Native yeasts. 9mths lees aging in used oak barrels. No malo. Similar style to the Palo Blanco.

Try something different like this wine from the Canary Islands. Vulcano soil and you can smell that. So the smell is not that nice, the wine tastes good. Dryness not too sharp minerals smoke citrus lemon

Perfumed blend of Listan Blanco, Malvasia, Marmajuelo, Albillo, Gual and Forastera. Bush vines planted before 1926, organic farming, native yeast, no chemicals used, aged for 8 months, 60% in used oak, 40% in steel. Medium golden colour. Medium+ intensity persistent aroma of acacia, peaches, sea breeze, crushed stones, cidonia, struck match and flinty touch. Medium body, tense and with zesty sourness, not as fragrant as aroma, more of earth and sea mineral salinity, high steely lively acidity. 91

Envinate masterclass at Le Pont Milsons Point, limited TN. Real contrast vs Palo Blanco, livier, more energy/higher acidity. Both great wines though. Lovely complexity, again that saline minerality with purer citrus, lemon notes. Great length. Might prefer Palo on balance 🤔

Fantastic expression of volcanic soil. Centenary field blend from pre-phyloxerra parcels consisting of Listan Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Marmajuelo, Gual and Malvasia, while the rest is still unidentified. 300m elevation, 8m in oak and steal, partial skin contact. Pure and crystalline while maintaining a notable volcanic sulphur smoke cloud. Iron, sea breeze, saltiness, umami, fermented apricots, marigold, almonds, wet pebbles. Piercing, razor-sharp acidity. Almost tannic, extra long and sticky finish. Outstanding!

This steel-fermented blend of Palomino, Albillo, and Malvasia favors savory depth over primary fruit. Lean and structured, it speaks more in smoke, salt, and mineral tone than anything juicy. Subtle smoked spice on the nose, then a firm palate marked by underripe stone fruit and a chalky, coastal feel. Clean, restrained, and built for aging. Palo Blanco remains my preferred partner, but this has a stern, salty charm. ABV: 12 %, TA: 6 g/L, RS: < 3 g/L. NOK 479 @ VMP. Drank @ Nyhetssmaking, Krysset.

Quick notes from a small wine fair showing some new releases up here. I dig the wines from the Envinate project, not sure I've had the Tenerife wines before. I dig Tenerife Listan blanco and this is judy what you want. So mineral, smoky, salty and un-fruity which I dig.

Second taste in two months. Clear yellow. Moderate nose of sea weeds and pickled aromatic white fruits. High acidity, saline, too young. Unripe peach. 13/06/2026 Tasing this vintage the third time. Definitely sulphuric nose. Dry, high acidity, saline, lemon bitterness. High potential, good development over time.

Blend of various native grape varieties from Tenerife, including Gual, Malvasía, Verdello, Marmajuelo, Forastero Gomera and Listan Blanco. Hand-picked from old vineyards that are organically grown on volcanic soils and are located in the city of Taganana. Vinified separately with native yeasts, then aged for 8 months on the lees in neutral oak barrels and steel tanks. Aromas of quince, white flower, minerals and salt. Dry, clean and intense lean palate with mineral acidity.

This wine shows a clear Atlantic character, fresh and vibrant, with a very marked minerality. The nose highlights delicate wild flowers and subtle notes of quince, which combine harmoniously with volcanic minerality and a deep salinity, bringing complexity and freshness to the whole.

I have come to love Canary Islands wines particularly white ones but this was a bit too salty. It over blew the fruit.

From the Canary Islands and made on volcanic soil, this wine posseses sharp minerality with layers of undergrowth, mushroom, mulch, and salt.
