Good but not great. The nose has cranberry and hints of raspberry. The palate even after 2man hour in the decanter lacks the richness on the middle palate i was looking for. Cleansing acidity and minerality on the finish.

Beautifully intense and complex. Red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, red licorice, dried thyme, rosemary, granite, smoke. H acidity, M tannins, L finish. Served lightly chilled to accompany barbecue, this was gorgeous and beat the competition with its concentration and complexity and merited the extra £30 price tag

Blew my mind. Terroir wine, yet so classical. Checks all the boxes in terms of immediate pleasure. Pretty ruby. Intense, penetrating nose of roses, strawberry, sour cherry and subtle oriental spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, Aleppo pepper. Leather. Medium-bodied, subtle tannin. Good acid, a feast of red and blue fruit in waves and bursts. Super classy throughout. Long. I am speechless.

95-96+/100. Another day, another Comando G. Usually 10,000 bottles of this village Villanueva, but due to severe frost and grape loss they could only make ~1,290 bottles in '24. I've struggled in the past to understand Villanueva, but this vintage I totally get it! Super herbal with piparra and caper notes I find usually in the Iruelas, while also showing the red fruit and crushed rock minerals from Tumba. Real zingy palate with bright acidity and imperceptible tannins. The finish is moreish and long. Ethereal.

Finally trying my first Villanueva. 96 Parker rating for this superb Garnacha. 3.972 bottles made. Nose of fragrant elegant ethereal floral cherry & blueberry, ethereal minerals, macerated rosemary & grey minerals. Mid(+) body feel, fresh balanced smooth mineral acidity, mature smooth bold tannins. Palate as above again with added smooth anise, the superb silky mineral & floral blueberry emphasis & rock & chalk dust on the finish. 4,2⭐️++ Classy!

2025-06-11 The bottle felt a bit off. Murky, with the usual fruit veering into Nordic territory - think lingonberry over cherry/strawberry - wrapped in a dense layer of bitter herbs. Not flawed exactly, but certainly different from previous bottles and noticeably less exciting. It had more in common with young Matassa or a moody Poulsard than what I remembered.

Red fruit, but also aoricot/stone fruit, white florals, minerality. Very elegant and compelling but too confusing to score higher imo. Preferred La Bruja in this bracket.
