Coche-Dury Bourgogne Chardonnay 2021

A dry white wine from Bourgogne produced by the prestigious Domaine Coche-Dury. It features a lively, well-integrated acidity, with aromas of lemon, pear, white flowers, and toasted hazelnut, leading to a mineral and saline finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Chardonnay
  • D.O. / Region: Bourgogne
  • Winery: Coche-Dury
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Up to 22 months in oak barrels

The vineyard

The grapes originate from selected parcels in Bourgogne, managed by the Coche family in iconic villages such as Meursault. The vineyards are cultivated with deep respect for the environment to preserve the pure expression of the Chardonnay variety.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

The vinification follows traditional, low-intervention methods. The wine undergoes an extended ageing process of up to 22 months in oak barrels, with a very limited use of new oak to respect the identity of the terroir.

Why buy it

This dry white wine is an excellent choice for collectors seeking to experience the style of one of the world's most exclusive wineries. Its balance of freshness and complexity ensures a positive evolution in the bottle. Nose of obvious flint stone, bright lemon peel. Palate has bright medium acidity. Notes of quince, lemon peel, more nuanced and expressive than last tasting but still not as approachable as 2020 or 2022

Very savory when just opened it, even a bit petrol oil, the palate is a bit light when just opened it, over a few hours kept them in the bottle, it just keeps developing, very nice yellow fruits and white flowers, lean with good acidity, best Bourgogne tried so far

Wow! It is flamboyant. The nose is slightly better than the palate, but it is excellent. How can a Bourgogne Blanc be this concentrated? - 93

Heinous wine list at au crocodile. Good food, this wine was nice, far more electric, less oak bomb than the 2022 that we had an hour earlier. A nice, classic wine!

Pale lemon green, lots of lemon, oak, citrus, flint, lime, saline, lemon zest. High acidity, medium and round body, very balance, lots of minerality and salinity; the acidity is decently balanced with salinity and body.

A Coche-Dury is rare enough to be fully appreciated. Here, the wine is precise and vibrant, offering toasted notes, citrus, and a lively, mouthwatering acidity. A superb Chardonnay, needing either a bit of air or a few years in the cellar to reveal its full potential. A simple lunch that turns out better than expected.

What a great wine! Easily opened up. Super balanced with lemon zest, white flower. A bit of oak influence. Medium acidity. Minerality at the finish. It just went better and better through out the dinner and such a pleasure to pair with every dish. Second day, more acidic but still powerful.

2021 vintage. As expected from the vintage condition, extremely precise and full of energy. High acidity, but not yet expressive (even with some air). Will improve with age . Keep !

Hard to rate a wine from a cult producer that you’ve always wanted to try. Too young and not sure if this entry-level should be the right ruler, but besides being a good wine, I can’t justify the price. Soft gunpowder and flint notes with really mild reduction, ripe orchard fruit, ripe lime, lime-infused butter and subtle oak spice. A pleasure to have, now hope to get the Mersault one day.

Unbelievably precise and deep. Medium to light body with a gently oily texture and a solid, slender structure which makes the palate an unique, very tense amalgam of elements. Full of white melon and Amalfi lemon flavors, squeezed by a tight and wrapping chalky minerality on the late palate and crossed by an elegantly sharp acidity, which gives cut and length, even beyond the notes of ham fat and white pepper on ending. Buttery nose with matchstick, mayflower, lemon, huge tar, eucalyptus and face powder.
