The vineyard

Winemaker Philippe Pacalet selects and rents plots with outstanding soils in the region. This approach allows him to work with high-quality vineyards that precisely express the identity of each parcel.

Fermentation is carried out using natural yeasts and whole clusters in wooden vats. Following traditional foot treading, the wine ages for 15 to 18 months in 228-liter barrels, with minimal intervention and almost no added sulfur.

2025-05-02 This Gamay felt more like Pinot in a blind setting. The nose was lovely - albeit a bit oaky - with red berries, earth, flowers, a touch of syrup, vanilla, nuts and a hint of chocolate. It showed decent body and good acidity, but the finish fell a bit short. A curious one - quite enjoyable, but something about the style felt oddly off.

Wine tasting at 17/20 @13/5/24. A beautiful Gamay from Beaujolais. This 2018 Gamay is aromatic and very fruity like strawberry and cherries. Med tannin and med acidity. Very easy to drink wine. Wine maker has a strong background of family and wine making technique. Is a young wine maker but definitely a shining star in future.

Deep ruby red colour (probably the darkest Beaujolais I ever tried) 🥹 Initial nose is oaky with high acidity & berrilicious on the palate. 1st two pour to pair with our braised sea cucumber with roast pork & mushroom by #chefdegie. Bottle breathe for another 1.5 hours & the beautiful perfume garrique & aniseed is so seductive on the nose. Juicy & fleshy blackberries & raspberries with mouthwatering finish. It’s drinking so well now after being opened for 2 hours plus! Delicious! 🤤

A lot of raspberry and/or mulberry jam on the nose. This wine needs more than 2 hours in the decanter to fully express itself. Quite balance but the taste is somehow linear. This is only at average good level, not the level of excellence I would expect from PP. That explains my 3.8. P/s: drank another bottle few days later and this time it showed up more beautifully with lots of spiciness and fine tannin. 3.9.
