Pagodes de Cos Saint-Estèphe 2023

Pagodes de Cos Saint-Estèphe 2023 is a dry red wine from Bordeaux, crafted by the renowned Cos d'Estournel estate. It features an aromatic profile of ripe red fruits, spicy notes, a subtle salinity, and a persistent, polished finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux
  • Winery: Cos d'Estournel
  • Soil / Altitude: Quaternary gravel and clay on limestone bedrock
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 12 months in oak barrels

The vineyard

The vineyards are located in the southern part of the AOC Saint-Estèphe appellation, on slopes descending towards the Jalle du Breuil stream. The vines, with an average age of 40 years, grow on quaternary gravel and clay soils over a limestone bedrock.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Vinification takes place in a gravity-flow winery, which preserves the integrity of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels to enhance its structure and complexity.

Why buy it

This red wine is a suitable choice for those seeking the structure of a great Bordeaux with an approachable profile in its youth, while maintaining notable cellaring potential. Its balance of freshness and concentration makes it a valuable addition to your cellar.

Opulent, but somewhat one-dimensional. Cassis, mocha and cherries, medium-bodied on the palate, round, with a medium-length finish. 🦏 🦏.

D ⤵️: Very nice. Wonderful second wine from Cos'Estournel. 2016. Perfectly matured. Wonderful texture, smooth but definitely with pressure. On the palate with a lot of supporting acidity and crisp tannins. It will last for years! 4.2
