Follin-Arbelet Aloxe-Corton 2023

This dry red wine from the AOC Aloxe-Corton, crafted by the Follin-Arbelet winery, showcases the classic character of Burgundy Pinot Noir. It offers aromas of black fruit, cassis, and mineral notes of graphite, balanced by a creamy texture and delicate tannins.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Pinot Noir
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Aloxe-Corton, Burgundy
  • Winery: Follin-Arbelet
  • Soil / Altitude: Sustainably tilled soils
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 16-20 months in oak / Cellaring potential of 10-12 years

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from two adjacent parcels bordering the Premier Cru area, covering just 0.8 hectares. These low-yielding old vines grow in soils managed sustainably, without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following a manual harvest, the fully destemmed grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts in open oak vats. The wine is aged for 16 to 20 months in oak barrels and is bottled by gravity without filtration.

Why buy it

This Burgundy red stands out for its balance and a cellaring potential of up to twelve years. It is an ideal choice to enhance your collection or to enjoy during a refined dinner. If you wish to add a bottle of true character to your cellar, you can buy Follin-Arbelet Aloxe-Corton 2023 online directly from our shop.

I really enjoyed their 1er Cru "Les Vercots", so I decided to give their "village" Aloxe-Corton a try. Medium ruby-purple colour, almost deep. Florals, black fruits, with hints of oak and barnyard on the nose. Medium-bodied. Red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and plum on the palate. Medium tannins and medium+ acidity. A touch of bitterness on the finish. Not so complex and quite short. I'd recommend spending a little more and going for the 1er Cru.

Medium/high tannin wine, instantly mouthwatering with notes of boysenberry, blackberry, lipstick, and tart cherry. The sweetness of this wine tastes respectful and polite, adding to the body of the wine but not overpowering to stand as a characteristic of its own. Very easy to drink!

Restrained, elegant strawberry and cherry. Mushroom is the star of the show, with a short finish. Nice value for Burgundy and a tasty wine.

Village wine showing proper depth. Deep ruby color. Good nose featuring black cherries, wild berries, and subtle spice. The palate delivers nice concentration with dark fruit, well-integrated tannins, and proper structure. Medium+ acidity maintains freshness. Long finish with persistent fruit notes. Cherry, medicinal, oak and spices. Very aromatic. Layered and complex even at a young age. So much potential for the decades to come.

Consistently excellent village Aloxe-Corton, same impression as in previous vintages, textbook terroir driven wine. Ruby colour, pure aromas of cherry, raspberry, violet and cloves, at this stage few secondary notes. Medium body, 13% abv, fresh, balanced, elegant, sophisticated, profound, long finish.
