The vineyard

The grapes originate from a single vineyard plot planted in 2004 in Galicia. The clay soils of this site provide the wine with enhanced body and structure, while the Atlantic climate shapes its fresh and austere character.

Winemaking

Fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and is completed in a large oak foudre. The wine then undergoes nine months of aging on its lees before bottling.

I love Albamar wines, they make some fantastic single vineyard wines from very old vines. There are 6000 bottles of this beauty…🥂 This is fresh and vibrant. It has lots of citrus, lemon and lime. A hint of peach and cream on the long finish. A saline wine with a hint of cream on the finish. Beautiful wine to enjoy on its own or with some lovely fresh seafood.

Fantastic, this is why an Albariño can bring such joy to drink. Fresh, mouthwatering acidity with balanced mouthfeel with a nice intensity of lime, lemongrass and a saline touch in the lengthy finish. Fermented and aged in large foudres.

Great funk on the nose of this Albariño. Spent time in old oak. Rich secondary aromas of damp wood/leather - not typical of this grape/style. Medium acid overall but cuts through the secondary and early tertiary flavors, showing lemon balm and oyster shell minerality.
