Pierre Morey Meursault 2023

This dry white wine from the AOC Meursault, crafted by the historic Pierre Morey winery, showcases classic Burgundian character. It reveals aromas of hazelnut, grapefruit, and jasmine, leading to an energetic palate with a chalky structure and a persistent mineral finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Chardonnay
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Meursault, Bourgogne
  • Winery: Pierre Morey
  • Soil / Altitude: Stony and gravelly limestone soils
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Oak barrel aging

The vineyard

The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from three distinct parcels in Meursault, located near Blagny, Puligny, and Monthélie. The vines grow on stony, gravelly soils over a limestone base, which imparts complexity and tension to the wine.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Fermentation and subsequent aging take place in oak barrels, with a small portion of new oak used to add structure and depth. This careful process preserves the pure fruit expression and the distinct mineral terroir of Bourgogne.

Why buy it

If you are looking for a refined white Bourgogne with excellent cellaring potential for your collection, this wine is an ideal choice. Its balance of citrus freshness and depth makes it a versatile companion for fine dining. You can buy Pierre Morey Meursault 2023 online directly from our shop.

Dry, with medium+ body, medium+ acidity and medium alcohol, and medium+ flavour intensity. Butter, citrus, mineral, vanilla and apple lead into a long finish; youthful and very good in quality. 4.2 #wset3

Pale yellow color in the glass! On the nose delicate aromas of mandarin and vanilla with hints of brioche, lemon and fresh almond! On the palate full-bodied with a mineral and long finish! Cheers!

White Burgundy from the limestone soils of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune, produced from Chardonnay fermented and aged in French oak barrels with lees contact. The wine shows aromas of ripe pear, citrus, toasted almond and subtle hazelnut. The palate is broad yet mineral with balanced acidity. With the langoustine, kombu and kohlrabi it complemented the seafood’s sweetness and the dish’s delicate umami.

Classic and well-made Meursault 😃👌🥂 🥂Colour: Beautiful golden hue in the glass. 👃Nose: Inviting aromas of ripe stone fruits like peach and apricot, delicately balanced with fresh notes of citrus and green apple. 👅Palate: Rich and creamy on the palate with lovely weight and freshness. A lively acidity brings balance and elegance, while oak aging adds layers of vanilla and toasted nuts to the finish. A harmonious and well-structured Meursault with both charm and complexity.

Very interesting and pleasant tasting notes. Toasted coconut prominent. Served with a seafood pasta at a tasting menu in Northern Italy.

Nose is round and silky, with ripe quince, yellow pear and melon notes of primary characters. There is also mint leaf and the typical yogurt and cream notes found in Meursault. Complex aroma! Dry entry, again with ripe fruit characters. Vertical and linear acidity. Chewy body and long finish. I rated the wine higher initially but it did seem to loosen up in the glass rather quickly over half an hour.

150Ème Fête des Grands Vins de Bourgogne - Brief impressions for wines that are in general terms, extremely young (some even not bottled yet). Another 23’ that will be bottled in a few months. The minerality and purity are great, but the balance with the fruit and acids, are still too crazy. I think that it is extremely promising.

Great surprise from a producer I’ve put aside years ago after some disappointing wines. This really showed well, pure and balanced, with a strong Meursault identity.

An interesting, very straightforward wine. A definitive Mersault but from the lighter end. Typical but short-finish and not deep butter, oak and vanilla. Combined with minerals, peach and apple.

Gorgeous nose of ripe lemon, apricot and white peach, popcorn reduction, perfect dose of oak. Good minerality, some white flowers. Balance of ripeness and acidity is absolutely perfect for my palate. Long finish. Not a cheap village wine at €75 but really one of my favourite white Burgs tasted this year.
