Fresh, crispy & uncomplicated, exactly how Bourgogne Passetoutgrain (Pinot Noir + Gamay) should be! Very fair price at €18. 👁 Ordinary red, translucent. 👃 Fruit compote of sour cherries, crushed strawberries & red currant. Summer flowers, white pepper + earth notes. 👅 Light body, med(+) cooling / vibrant acid. Freshly picked fine berries. Simple yet clean structure, nice sweet-sour-salty finish. 🎯 Easy-drinkable & charming. Perfect on a dark Wednesday in Oktober!

Outstanding Wine: 50% Pinot Noir & 50% Gamay from a 1926 complanté vineyard on gravel‑clay‑limestone near Meursault, by Domaine Michel Lafarge. The 2021/2022 bottlings pour medium ruby. On the nose: cassis, wild strawberry, blood orange, hint of spice and pepper. Dry, ~12.5% ABV; medium-bodied with zesty acidity. Palate offers juicy tart cherry, blueberry, citrus, earthy‑pepper lift and a firm, persistent finish—entry-level Burgundy craftsmanship.

A rare gem, L’Exception is Domaine Michel Lafarge’s tribute cuvée, crafted by Frédéric and Clothilde Lafarge from a single Volnay parcel co-planted with 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Gamay in 1921. Biodynamic, century-old vines grow on Volnay marl and limestone. In the cool 2021 vintage, grapes were co-fermented, aged 18 months in barrel, and bottled unfiltered. Limited to ~3000. Vivid purple hue. Aromas of cherry, plum, and raspberry with spice. Lively, juicy palate, fine tannins, and fresh acidity. Raw, essential.

Passetoutgrain, a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, here from 1926 vines. Somewhat more of tribute than a trend, and honestly not my usual thing — but a shot at a producer I’d rarely afford. With only around 80 still making this fading style, whole clusters draw out dark cherries, tart cranberries, damp earth, and a green edge. Tannins sit easy, the finish drifts quietly. A humble piece of Burgundy’s past, holding on with grace. ABV: 12,5 %, TA: 5 g/L, RS: < 3 g/L. NOK 289 @ VMP (2020) Bought @ Blomqvist.

A decent wine from Burgundy. Light and elegant. Red and brick colour. On the nose you have forest floor and red fruit. Dry and balanced. On the palate there are plum and cassis with a hint of chocolate. Very soft. Not an exceptional but very enjoyable.

It’s Beaujolais Nouveau Day, and Pinot Thursday, so decided to go with a 50/50 blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir! Passetoutgrain is tradition in the Cote d’Or, where the two grapes are grown together as a field blend. This causes the grapes to ripen at the same time! 😎 98 y/o vines, Ecocert and Demeter certified. Presumably grown in Volnay. Destemmed, aged in cask 16-18 months. Transparent ruby violet. Earth, cranberry, tart cherry, white pepper. M- bodied, dry, silky tannins, piercing acidity, 12% alcohol.

Drank the 2011 in Sapporo, Japan in a funky hotel room with a turntable and a vinyl library. 😎🤘🏻We enjoyed this reasonable price Pinot/Gamay blend with Hokkaido camembert cheese and sweet rice crackers.

Pale ruby. Lovely cool notes of strawberry cranberry minerals mushroom pomegranate and bit of cola. Pretty full bodied, young bold tannins and acidity, finishes long yet a bit of alcohol burning at the throat after.

4.0. Really drinkable Gamay, Pinot blend. Opens with strong red fruit characters with a hint of black cherry. It's picked up some oak influence as well. Nicely textured and lively acidity. Paired well with steak tartare

2018 vintage at about $30. One of the best daily and much better than pinot noir from US or New Zealand.
