Méo-Camuzet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras 2021

This dry red wine from the AOC Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is crafted by the Méo-Camuzet winery. It features aromas of dark cherries and fresh raspberries with hints of anise, a velvety texture, and a well-defined mineral finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Pinot Noir
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, Burgundy
  • Winery: Méo-Camuzet
  • Soil / Altitude: Medium-depth clay, southern exposure
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Oak aged, cellaring potential of 2 to 8 years

The vineyard

The grapes originate from the Les Cras vineyard, located on a south-facing slope. The entrance of a nearby valley provides a cooling influence to this sunny terroir, where the clay soil supports the balanced development of the vines.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Vinification focuses on precise fruit extraction. An early malolactic fermentation leads to a slightly shorter aging period in oak barrels, ensuring seamless wood integration that preserves the varietal identity.

Why buy it

If you are looking for a cellaring wine from Côte de Nuits, this red will bring distinction to your collection. Its freshness and structure promise excellent development over the coming years. You can buy Méo-Camuzet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras 2021 online to experience a Premier Cru of great finesse.

Elegant, perfumed and silky, with ripe cherry, wild strawberry, violets, sweet spice and fine earthy notes. Medium-bodied, polished tannins, balanced acidity and a long refined finish. Very Chambolle: graceful but serious.

Still quite restrained, showing a tad too much oak influence for my tolerance. This is rather masculine in style, a classic for Méo; it probably recalls more a Gevrey than a Chambolle. Medium-bodied, with a finely creamy texture yet a quite airy feeling, it offers dark flavors of blackcurrant, strawberry, cola and dried violets, flowing in a graphite-driven late palate, with fresh and silky acidity. Baroque, dark nose with a bit of vanilla, graphite, perfumed Indian spices, strawberry jelly, ash and dried violets.

Wine #3 on Burgundy 201: Chambolle-Musigny This wine masterfully combines concentration and delicacy. Despite its density, it remains airy, perfumed, and seamless on all levels. Beautiful bouquet of blueberries, cherry, plum, grilled meat, and a hint of pine in the background. Almost perfectly balanced, it's silky, quaffable, and delicious. A sophisticated beauty that you can drink like wild strawberry compote. Talk about contrasts. 2024-06-26 @Goodwine

An amazing Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny. The 2021 was said to be a tough vintage and there's a huge gap between great wines and bad ones. This 2021 from Les Cras represents really elegant and delicate characters from CM. Pure red fruit and beautiful acidity. Long and sophisticated finish. Thanks for sharing @[1|33493224|Maho] san!! Absolutely fantastic nose of red candy, cherries, and underbrush. The palate seems a little bit more modest. Probably should have been decanted. But it still was magical.

4.3 up to expectations, typical Chambolle, pretty modern and approachable, but with all the classic notes - raspberry, cherry, mushrooms, underbrush. Silky, well balanced, sophisticated and sexy wine.

🧐 Easily an outstanding (4.4) wine. Already enjoyable, but IMO it’s to early to drink: tannins are on the harsh side and there are no tertiary aromas. Still I would easily recommend it. A must buy! Intense multi-layered nose dominated by cherry, raspberry and herbes de provence. High acidity; tannins are med+, bit dry; alc - med to med+; body is med+. Taste intense, corresponds well with the nose; with added blackberry and leather. Long rich finish.
