El Nido Clio 2024

El Nido Clio 2024 is a prestigious red wine produced by Bodegas El Nido, part of the renowned Viñas Gil family, under the D.O.P. Jumilla designation in the Region of Murcia, Spain. Made from Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine stands out for its intensity, concentration and aromatic complexity, making it one of the leading red wines from Jumilla.

The vineyards are situated on gently rolling hills with a north-eastern exposure, where the climatic conditions and soil characteristics encourage balanced grape ripening. The Monastrell comes from old vines, some approaching 100 years of age, while the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards are also several decades old. These low-yielding vines produce concentrated grapes capable of creating wines with remarkable structure, depth and character.

The history of Bodegas El Nido began in the early 2000s, with the ambition of producing premium wines that would establish Jumilla as one of Spain's leading wine regions. From their earliest vintages, the El Nido and Clio labels gained considerable international recognition. The 2004 vintage was particularly noteworthy, receiving 99 Parker points for El Nido and 97 points for Clio, further strengthening the winery's reputation and international standing.

The production of Clio 2024 follows a philosophy focused on careful grape selection and respect for its origin. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is subsequently aged in oak barrels, which contribute to its aromatic complexity, soften its structure and impart elegant spicy and toasted nuances.

An excellent accompaniment to red meats, roasts, lamb, game dishes, stews and meat-based rice dishes. Its structure and aromatic richness also make it a perfect match for aged cheeses and intensely flavoured dishes.

El Nido Clio 2024 is an excellent choice for those looking to buy wine online and discover one of Jumilla's most iconic red wines, combining the intensity of Monastrell, the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the complexity developed through careful oak ageing.

This has concentrated, rich, intense fruit through the mid palate, with a nice savory edge weaved around the finish. Indulgent but balanced for a big wine.

A freakishly divine red. Possibly the most lively versatile red I've ever tasted. A literal can't-miss with nearly any combination of dishes.

Ruby in color. Aromas of leather, cheese, and blueberry. Flavors of blueberry, chocolate, and coffee. Good acid on this like a green coffee, but it finishes with delicious ripe blackberry.

Owned in collaboration with Chris Ringland, Jorge Ordonez, Miguel Gil and others, located in Valley of La Aragona inside the Murcia district of Jumilla. Very dark Ruby, purple edges with floral fruit aromas and floral spice. On the palate blueberry and sweet black cherry flavors, savory with great mouthfeel, 24 months aging on French and American oak, the 70% Monastrell and 30% Cab Sauv has fine soft tannins, well integrated with oak, long finish ending with mineral tones, Will age well!

Vinified by grandmaster Chris Ringland. The quality immediately jumps out of the glass at the start of the fragrance: earthy, mushrooms, leather, blueberry and blackcurrant jam. The taste is also very complex but smoothly in which we find blue and black berries, some herbs and a light pepper. Powerful wine with exceptional balance and length.

so awesome. i cannot give a 5, but 4.75 is not out of the question. so pronounced. very well crafted. a lot more tannic and acidity than i thought. if I am picking nits maybe it is a tad over the top. classic big Spanish wine at 16%. red and blue fruit. strength, long lasting. we had to decant for an hour and it was exquisite thereafter. highly recommend!!!

Dark color and full nose filled with bucolic smells and wet grass. Lots of cherry at first with oak and vanilla. On the sweet side with full body - I tend to prefer dry wines with less frutal profiles, but this is a good wine
