Durigutti Pie de Monte Finca Las Jarillas Gualtallary Malbec 2020

This dry red wine from Durigutti Family comes from the prestigious Gualtallary region in Mendoza. It offers an aromatic profile of fresh raspberries and ripe plums, supported by firm tannins and balanced acidity on the palate.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Malbec
  • D.O. / Region: Gualtallary, Mendoza
  • Winery: Durigutti Family
  • Soil / Altitude: Alluvial-fluvial with calcium carbonate, 1360 m above sea level
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 11 months in concrete eggs

The vineyard

The grapes are grown in a vineyard located at an altitude of 1360 meters in the Uco Valley. The alluvial-fluvial soil, rich in calcium carbonate, imparts a distinct mineral character to the wine. The plots are managed sustainably and are currently transitioning to organic certification.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 3000-liter unepoxied concrete eggs. The wine is then aged for 11 months in the same vessels to preserve its freshness and develop a smooth, enveloping texture.

Why buy it

If you are looking for an Argentine red wine with a distinct mineral identity, this bottle is an excellent addition to your cellar. Its concrete-egg aging ensures a pure fruit expression that pairs beautifully with formal dinners. You can buy Durigutti Pie de Monte Finca Las Jarillas Gualtallary Malbec 2020 online directly from our shop.

Decent, easy drinking Malbec but not great. Very fruit forward with notes of tar. Medium to light tannins, low complexity and weak finish.

A very good red wine with a bold and structured profile. A high-end Malbec, crafted by winemakers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti in the prestigious Gualtallary region of the Uco Valley (Mendoza). Tim Atkin gave this vintage 91/100: Excellent. Tasted March 2025.

Smells of plums, dusty roads, capsicum and…. Peanut butter. That new for me. M body, palate is juicy with soft tannins. Mo re fruit forward than usual. Somm tells me it was in stainless steel only - makes sense.

The blueberry tobacco combines and punches through everything so much. Hard to grab further notes as that one is so forward, but what a note to ride on

I opened it 3 hours before drinking it with a vacío on the grill and it was the perfect pairing. Smooth, silky malbec, great black currant and pepper notes with long finish.

Durigutti Malbec 2020 is drinking beautifully. Lovely aromas of blackberries, black cherries, plum, currants, and anise bring perfumed freshness. Silky on the palate with chocolate and clove undertones. Very complex with smooth, velvety tannins and a long lingering finish. Classic Malbec.

Classic Malbec. Jam, blackberry and blueberry, with the lightest little hint of oaky vanilla. Really pleasant and a good crowd pleaser!
