Domaine Pierre Damoy Bourgogne Rouge Les Ravry 2020

A dry red Pinot Noir wine produced in the prestigious Bourgogne region by the Pierre Damoy winery. It features aromas of ripe red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by subtle spicy notes, fine tannins, and a balanced acidity.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Bourgogne, Burgundy
  • Winery: Pierre Damoy
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 18 months on the lees

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in Bourgogne, where the Pierre Damoy winery manages plots with old vines. The region's continental climate and the diversity of its clay-limestone soils contribute to the characteristic typicity of the area.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Harvesting is done by hand with a double selection of the grapes. Following a fifteen-day maceration, fermentation takes place in open vats with traditional punching down, followed by eighteen months of aging on the lees to define its structure.

Why buy it

This red wine stands out for its classic profile and excellent cellaring potential. It is an ideal choice for those wishing to explore the authentic character of Burgundy wines. For your personal cellar, you can buy Domaine Pierre Damoy Bourgogne Rouge Les Ravry 2020 online directly from our shop.

One of my favorite Burgundy producer and I was blown away by the fact that the ABV reach 16% 😆, expressive note of dark berries on the nose, there’s hint of caramel, hibiscus, the weight of the palate is big yet succulent with the extraction of sweetness from dried fruit(raisin), good depth and long finish. Honestly speaking if I have to pick then 2017 will more suits to my liking 🍷

Winefinder news XII/XIV Pierre Damoy only keeps the best grapes and sells the rest to other estates and producers. Relativ late harvest for this grapes from Fixin and 18 months on oak whereof 30% new gives the wine high concentration and bags of flavours. Cherries, strawberries, herbs, cedar wood. Drink 2025-2034

You would think from south of France? No, Pinot noir. refined expression of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. This wine offers a deep cherry-red color with youthful violet hues. Aromas of ripe strawberries, cherries, and subtle spices are complemented by earthy undertones. On the palate, it delivers a velvety texture, fine tannins, and balanced acidity, showcasing freshness and elegance. Ideal for Burgundy enthusiasts seeking purity and finesse with potential for aging

Started the reds with a borgogne rogue, but it was a wonderful start, light and perfumed, amazing for a Bourgogne nice fruitiness and nice dark berries

Attractive nose of black raspberry, red candy and sandy minerals. The structure has good backbone and there is a fresh lingering acidity through out the ride. Quite full mouth experience of dried berry fruit. Cranberry, red cherry and mature raspberry. Flirting with the oak the fruit get more of a candy-like character. Maybe lacks a bit clearance in this regard. Overall a good product but doesn’t feel like a typical burgundy wine per se.
