Bénédicte et Stéphane Tissot Arbois Sous la Tour Pinot Noir 2020

A dry red wine from the AOC Arbois appellation, crafted by Domaine André et Mireille Tissot. It features aromas of red berries, such as redcurrant, a silky texture on the palate, and a subtle saline finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Pinot Noir
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Arbois (Jura)
  • Winery: Domaine André et Mireille Tissot

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the prestigious Arbois area, cultivated under strict biodynamic farming principles. The cool climate of Jura and the diverse soils allow the variety to express its purest, most mineral character.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the typicity of the grape. Indigenous yeasts are used for spontaneous fermentation, and the addition of sulfur is kept to a minimum throughout the process.

Why buy it

Earthy, minerals, little black pepper, cherry on the palate. Quite stiff but in a good way. Solid Jura red. Although the Juraness wasn’t that clear on the palate, more noticeable on the nose.

Feels like the wilder cousin of a Vosne. Cherry, forest floor, rose on the nose. Beautiful color - light (from the top)and dark (from the side). Stemmy, textural. Hides a hefty frame: high acidity and not insignificant tannins, but all fine and integrated so they all pass by with comforting ease and balance. 93 points. Better in 5-10 years. Will last 20.

Typical Jura PN. Juicy and acidic. Light bodied. Strawberry, cherry, blackberry, oak, rose hip, cinnamon, minerals and earthy. Not very complex but enjoyable. Easy drink.

An evolving jura Pinot. Astringent tannins. Gets better and softer with air. Roasted mushrooms and allspice. A very nice after dinner wine

Bénédicte & Stéphane Tissot – Arbois Sous La Tour Pinot Noir, 2022 Jura, Pinot Noir. 12 M in 15-20% new French oak. Textural oak, subtle vanilla, chocolate, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, sweet spice, cinnamon, mineras. Though 100% PN in taste & appearance, there are traits to this wine I yet can´t put into words other than, "it´s a different PN" I think it´ll be even better in 5 yrs. I´d be surprised if Jura has much better PNs to offer. I really like this wine & will drink again. 92,5p

Bursting with red fruits, structured meditative wine. Some bramble , lots of blackberry, a bit of gooseberry and red currant. It doesnt hide that lil bit of VA that is still present. Fine tannins but present. Medium-high acidity. Went positively well with a Christmas eve dinner, sang the whole dinner. Ever changing I would love to drink this wine in a few years.

Tasted blind. Wild strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, forest floor. Fruity at first, but more minerals and other layers. The tannins were much higher than expected, and the color was not completely transparent.

A clear, delicate cherry hued appearance & a fragrant floral nose of nasturtiums & sweet jasmine, the Sous La tour reminds you in many ways of a Burgundy. This finely etched Stephane Tissot crafted Jura masterpiece is compelling, complex & worthy of gracing the finest tables. Delicate & nuanced on the palate, fresh cherries & cranberries juice up the mouthful with a soft sweetness & a keen acidity. Intriguing with a lovely freshness, soft dusty tannins & a quiet vein of bitterness lengthen the finish.

Haunting perfume over a Lithe palate. Fine earth, minerals and a hint of smokiness. Quite beguiling - it's a wine you could drink forever (if your pockets allowed).

Jura PN. Meat, menthol, pepper, shoe sole, the infamous "a freshly opened can of tennis balls" -- for real, I swear. Earthy, with powerful tannic grip. Great!
