The aroma is tight: peanut butter, birch buds, white currant, gooseberry. The taste is rather neutral: nectarine, wild pear. Not bad.

Viura, also known as Macabeu, is one of the key grapes behind Cava. But Artadi shows that this grape can do much more than bubbles… without drowning it in oak! Fresh, lively & beautifully balanced, with plenty of Mediterranean charm. White flowers, ripe apple, pear, citrus & delicate herbal notes lead into a mineral core, elegant structure & a lovely finish. Youthful freshness meets subtle complexity and mineral depth. Viura can definitely play the white wine game!

13082026 - Thirstdate with my wife at 🏡: 👁️ Eye: Oily deep yellow colour 👃 Nose: Stone fruits, pear & grass 👅 Palate: Grapefruit, nutmeg & almond 🍽️ Pairing: Spicy assam grouper fillets & prawns, cold spinach salad by #chefdegie 💭 Final Thoughts: Pnp with grassy, stemmy & stone fruits on the nose. High phenolic grip that I preferred if the acidity is higher to lift up the wine. My wife called it an etna bianco 2020 with the colour & unfamiliar notes 🤭 4.0/5 JW80

Peach minerals stone honey citrus white florals. 30 minutes decant. Medium(-) body wine(13.5%ABV). High(+) acidity, a bit oily mouthfeel with short(+) length finish. A linear profile flavor of citrus and minerality flavor. Clean and vibrant with a little hint of oak. The wine got a bit bland structure, and less complexity. Anyway, it is an easy drinking wine, really refreshing, and quite intense finish. Overall, a good aroma with quite delicious flavor(a nice combination of lemon, and sea salt tatse).

TASTE SPAIN London 2026. Artadi Viñas de Gain Blanco from Rioja Alavesa, made from high altitude 100% Viura grapes. Refined, mineral, pronounced with notes of ripe pear, citrus, apple, honey, and balsamic hues balanced by fresh acidity and a creamy buttery texture. Complex, layered, very expressive, rich, with long savory finish. Great potential to develop. Good value for money.

This is a night #2 wine @[1|29011840|Mr Kevvy]. Even still I feel like it could have seen more air. It's a medium to deep gold colour. Medium+ aromas of wood spice, oak, vanilla, quince, yellow apple, cream cheese, mango, a touch of thyme and other herbs. Dry, medium+ acid, full body, medium alcohol, medium+ flavour intensity and finish. Outstanding wine. A touch overoaked (for me), but lots of texture, flavour intensity and longevity. Has another 5+ years to go.

Petroleum, pear, green apple, honey, herbs and more. A big wine full bodied with matching acidity. Oak is noticeable but not overpowering, long after taste. Probably needs a couple of more years to mature.

This wine is a lovely pale yellow with an orange tint. We do not get much white Rioja in the US so this was a treat. Nose of flowers (iris, gardenia) honey, powdered lemon bars. Balanced acidity. Light body. Taste of flowers, powdered sugar, marzipan, almond, honey, and lemon. Really lovely.

Solid bottle, though a bit shy at first. The nose doesn’t give much - some stone, a savoury edge, and just a touch of yellow fruit once it opens up. What stands out is the softness: rounder, less driven by acidity than expected. Still, the balance holds, and there’s a gentle, almost mellow charm to it. Not a showstopper, but well put together. If you’re after something calm and savoury with a hint of fruit, this might be just right. For me, it lacked a bit of zip - but it’s a pleasant pour.

For a monthly Book Club meeting I had an aged Viura. From an organic producer in Rioja. Notes of peach, fennel, musk (not Elon!), quince and caramel. Deep and heady aromas with a pleasing musty drape on the palate. I love aged whites and the Viura delivers. Great for the sale price of $20. First glass paired well with book club banter. Had second glass of aged wine listening to Old Man by Neil Young.

No better way to fight a Costa Blanca heat wave than w La Guardia-based Artadi’s glistening Viñas de Gain Blanco (v18, 13.5% ABV, 100% Macabeu), effectively relieving thirst in a classy, complex way! By the bottle @ excellent In Vino Veritas in Orihuela Costa. Deep straw-yellow, greenish & silver reflections in appearance. On the nose, the wine excels w floral, exotic notes, plenty of vanilla, a whiff of browned butter & wet stones. Rich flavour-profile, bright & cool, chalky-drying minerality, lemony-brisk close!

Great introduction to this delightful Artadi wine dinner hosted by WYH and Patricia Lopez de Lacalle on her 1st ever visit to Malaysia. This white 2019 Viñas de Gaín Blanco, comes from a number of vineyards in Laguardia and Elvillar at 450 to 700 meters in altitude on clay and limestone soils. 100% Viura, what I used to refer to as White Rioja. Then I realised there was so much more to the region. I found this to have some balsamic notes, with austerity on the nose and palate. Only 17,000 bottles produced.
