The vineyard

The Tempranillo grapes come from Finca Pinea, where vines over 30 years old are situated at an altitude of more than 900 meters. This high elevation allows for a balanced ripening process due to the significant temperature shifts between day and night.

Following a manual harvest, the grapes undergo cold maceration in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for two winters in French oak barrels and concrete eggs to enhance its complexity and texture.

Immediately as you pour this into your glass, you realize you’re in for a special treat. Dark rich and velvet in color. Incredible aromas of plum and earth and oak. Incredibly viscous with legs that cling to the side of your glass like a koala to a tree! Resonant on the pallet, coats, the tongue, rich, dark berries and plum. Tempranillo at its best.

Wow! How is this Tempranillo?! In stark contrast to every Tempranillo I ever have in my life. Probably would have guessed Monastrell from southeast Spain. Big, huge wine. Lush blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, chocolate, and vanilla, with a hint of tobacco. Chalky chocolate as I have said on prior reviews - Felt like I could hack through it with a machete! Just fantastic. One of the best international reds I have ever had. Only complaint is that the chalkiness got to be a bit much towards the end.

Wow. Good value even though it is not cheap. A complex wine with long finish. Loads of oak with black fruit like black cherry and plum. The finish develops nice bitter chocolate. I love it.
