Envínate Migan Tinto 2024

Envínate Migan 2024 is a dry red wine produced by Envínate, one of Tenerife's most renowned winemaking projects. Originating from the Orotava Valley in the north of the island, this wine stands out for its elegance, concentration and distinctive volcanic character, reflecting the uniqueness of the Canary Islands' terroir and the influence of the Atlantic climate.

The grapes come from different vineyard plots in the Orotava Valley, mainly Montijo, Tío Luís and La Habanera, each contributing complementary characteristics to the final blend. The volcanic soils give the wine its characteristic spicy and mineral profile, while the region's climatic conditions encourage fruit expression and natural freshness.

The 2024 vintage was marked by dry weather and limited production. However, the absence of heatwaves during the summer and harvest allowed for more balanced grape ripening, particularly of the tannins. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration, yet with a more refined structure, precise aromatic expression and excellent balance.

An excellent accompaniment to white meats, roast poultry, Iberian pork, mushrooms, mountain-style rice dishes and semi-aged cheeses. Best served between 14 and 16°C to fully appreciate its freshness, structure and aromatic complexity.

Envínate Migan 2024 is an excellent choice for those looking to buy wine online and discover one of Tenerife's most distinctive volcanic red wines, renowned for its elegance, precision and authentic expression of the Orotava Valley.

Migan is an organic listan negro from 100+ yo vines at 350-600m asl in Tenerife's Orotava Valley. 50% whole clusters, wild ferment with light extraction, vinified in old oak. Medium ruby with a purple tinge at the rim. Volcanic mineral smoke aromas, raspberry, lilac, earth, citrus and a bit of animal hide. Intense minerality on an elegant, medium-bodied palate, herbal and saline with low tannins and high acidity. An impressive wine, drink lightly chilled and give it some time for the reduction to ease off.

Second birthday bottle in Hay on Wye, while buying too many books 😅 Advance homework prepping for Canarian tasting with @[1|6272997|Wineman Steve] and @[1|29011840|Mr Kevvy] This one is an old favourite - see previous notes. Light volcanic red, very mineral, crushed rocks, earthy, dirty raspberry, slight funk. We seem to enjoy everything Envinate do!

Our somm flat-out refused to believe we wanted this bottle. "It smells like wet dog." I disagree. It's got a lot of sulfur-y flavors I associate with volcanic wines: tennis balls, rotten eggs, simmering resentment and explosive enjoyment.

Listen Negra from the volcanic soils of Tenerife. Biodynamic low intervention. So gooood. Light colour low alc, ultra mineral, silken tannins. Great acidity. Complex and intriguing. Very earthy and smoky. Red fruit is prominent but the soil is boss. So unique so great. Thanks for the recommendation Cork in Bilbao.

Cherry/ red fruit with very obvious volcano! Both on the nose and palate. Medium on mouth feel , perhaps a bit lighter. Acidity is medium to medium high but not offensive. Sulfur on the nose Very cool wine. Hard to break down the volcano taste other than to say its like what you'd expect a volcano to taste like

Off the chart and the beaten track. 100% Listan Negro, the ancestor of USA ‘Mission’ variety, this light bodied yet aromatic red competes with some very good Pinot Noir for complexity and charm. Very pale ruby, not completely clear - no filtering. Carbonic laceration, and some gentle oak, drive notes of raspberry, animal fur, coconut, tobacco and smoke. High acidity and moderate alcohol, chill for maximum enjoyment.

Smoky minerality like crushed rocks, bizarrely approaching savoury bacon. Red cherry. Earthy raspberry. Opens up a bit to crunchy cranberry. On the palate it’s liquified volcanic ash. Crushed powdery stone. Minerals dominate with the fruit a ghost in the background. Light fruit appears on the finish. Waaaay into the finish.
